The name Bat Pagoda is not simply a title, but a vivid, mysterious image of thousands of bats flying back every afternoon, creating a unique scene in the vast sky of the pagoda grounds.
According to information recorded in ancient documents, Bat Pagoda began construction in 1569, more than 450 years ago.
Built in the 16th century, this pagoda is an architectural symbol of Khmer culture. The combination of architecture and green space of trees and grass creates a unique picture with characteristic orange-yellow color.
The architecture of the Bat Pagoda is a highlight with its tiled roof, four curved roof ends carved with Naga snakes and a pointed tower on top of the roof. A row of supporting columns surrounds the main hall, each column has a statue of the fairy Kemnar with her hands clasped before her chest.
