As someone passionate about photography and who loves capturing moments of Hanoi, Nguyen My Linh (also known as Kay Lin) recently created a photo series depicting the bustling atmosphere of Hang Ma Street during Christmas.
“On every holiday, not just Christmas but also other holidays like Lunar New Year, Mid-Autumn Festival, or Halloween, people immediately think of Hang Ma Street. Here, people can shop, or just browse to get into the atmosphere, or simply take photos. Whenever there's a festival, I almost always go there to see if there's anything interesting to photograph and share with everyone,” My Linh confided.

A month before Christmas, Hang Ma Street begins to bustle with goods for the special day of December. What's special here is the diverse and impressive array of charming little decorations. You can visit Hang Ma Street during this time to immerse yourself in the cozy atmosphere of the European holiday season. Moreover, in the evenings and on weekends, the street becomes lively with adults and children visiting and shopping.
Speaking to Travellive, My Linh said: “Actually, every year I see a lot of people going to Hang Ma Street. However, this year the shops decorated early to attract more tourists. The decorations are also more beautiful and diverse, giving people more choices to suit any space.”

Traditional Christmas decorations such as reindeer, Santa Claus, Christmas trees, wreaths, and snowmen continue to be the main items sold. Small decorative toys made from novel materials like wood and fabric also attract many visitors.
“For me, Hang Ma Street is more beautiful this year than in previous years. Besides the Christmas atmosphere, the decorations are more diverse and come in more designs. I think the colors are mostly in white tones, whereas last year it was mostly red. Just stepping into Hang Ma Street makes you feel like Christmas is just around the corner. I even bought myself a small Christmas tree for my table because the decorations here are so pretty,” My Linh shared.

These days, Hang Ma Street is overwhelming with the vibrant colors of Christmas decorations. In many shops, stacks of toys are piled higher than a person's head. The stalls are beautifully displayed, turning into an attractive "studio" for all visitors, especially young people. It has become a popular spot for young people to take photos and create stunning social media content.
"Besides shopping, people can take photos to capture moments with friends, family, and loved ones. If you haven't bought anything yet, you should ask the shop owner for permission beforehand to avoid any unpleasant incidents," My Linh advised.

Christmas in Vietnam is usually celebrated from the evening of December 24th to the end of December 25th. In Vietnam, Christmas is not just for Christians but has become a time for celebration for many people, especially young people. Although it is not a public holiday, Christmas is still a joyful occasion for everyone.
