On March 1st, the Department of Tourism, together with the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Union and other departments, agencies, and organizations, launched the 8th Ao Dai Festival 2022 with the theme "I Love Vietnamese Ao Dai," aiming to introduce the beauty and practicality of the Ao Dai.
This year's festival will take place from March 5th to April 15th, marking its return after a year-long hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. During this event, the Organizing Committee is offering discounts of 5% to 50% on ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) from tailors and fabric/accessory vendors for tourists and city residents.

Travel agencies and tourism service businesses will also add or design new tours with content related to the Ao Dai Festival; and organize many activities in response such as: tour discounts, giving/selling gift sets in response to the Ao Dai Festival in March and April, discounts for tourists using services while wearing Ao Dai...
In addition, tourist attractions in the city are offering free or discounted tickets to visitors, and city residents are encouraged to wear traditional Vietnamese ao dai dresses to participate in the festival.
Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, said that this year's festival has expanded in scale to many tourist destinations in the city. With an extended duration, the 8th Ao Dai Festival in Ho Chi Minh City has more activities than in previous years.
On the evening of March 15th, the opening ceremony was held on Nguyen Hue pedestrian street with a performance of 15 ao dai collections by various designers, featuring over 300 designs, based on four main themes: Origins, Transcendence, Integration, and The City I Love.
On the morning of March 6th, a parade of ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) with the theme "Aspiration for Peace" was held on the pedestrian street and at tourist attractions, along with an art program about ao dai titled "Oh, Ao Dai!", with the participation of over 2,000 people of various ages.

Destinations throughout the city will also organize activities to celebrate the festival, tailored to their specific conditions, such as: waiving or reducing entrance fees for tourists and locals wearing traditional ao dai; exhibitions of ao dai from the past and present, etc.
Furthermore, due to the ongoing pandemic, in addition to in-person events, the organizing committee also held an online ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) contest in March and an awards ceremony during the final night of the 2022 Elegant Ao Dai Contest.
Programs inspiring the ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress) for tourists, students, and city residents will continuously take place from March 14th to April 17th at schools, tourist destinations, historical sites, cultural relics, and ancient architectural sites…
