"Amidst the Green Grass, Under the Cool Mist" is a multimedia art exhibition that invites viewers to reflect on the profound connection between humanity and the natural world. The works are presented through diverse art forms including oil paintings, paper art, hand-painted blue and white ceramics, and handcrafted fashion apparel. Through different materials and expressive techniques, the artists open up imaginary spaces where flowers, plants, the earth, and humanity do not exist separately but intertwine and interact naturally and metaphorically.
Featuring artists Nguyen Thuy Hang, Duong Thuy Duong, Hoang Anh, and Mifa, the exhibition portrays a poetic journey of discovery, bringing viewers closer to the hidden beauty of the natural world.
Each artist offers a unique perspective – from the soft, abstract femininity in Duong Thuy Duong's sketches of plants and flowers to the majestic landscapes of Nguyen Thuy Hang; from folk elements and surreal contemporary imagery in Hoang Anh's paintings to the subtle, dreamy world of Mifa. These works are not merely observations of nature, but an inner dialogue between the visible and invisible worlds, between personal memory and the eternal flow of nature.
The exhibition guides viewers to explore the subtle yet powerful movements taking place beneath the tranquil surface of life – from the shifting of geological strata and mineral formation processes to the growth cycles of plants. These transformations reflect the finite journey of humanity: we come and go, while nature continues silently, persistently, and compassionately.
It's not just an invitation to gaze upon nature, but also to pause, feel, and remember the moments when nature gently glided through our lives – moments we may have missed. It's a gentle yet profound reminder that beauty isn't only found in dazzling or extraordinary things, but also in every gentle breath, every subtle movement of the world around us. "Amidst the green grass, under the cool mist" offers a different perspective on nature: not as a distant backdrop for life, but as a companion – always there, nurturing, protecting, and silently accompanying us through the years.
To add vibrant colors to the exhibition space, Chula opened its collection to showcase "Flowers" - designs inspired by the multifaceted beauty of flowers and plants, reflecting the enthusiastic and joyful spirit of people. Simultaneously, Bat Trang Museum Atelier brought a contemporary touch to traditional folk culture with its blue and white porcelain collection "Weaving a Flower," where botanical motifs are expressed through exquisite craftsmanship, evoking the rhythm of the earth, the craft villages, and the cultural memories of Vietnam.
Fashion show event
Chula's "Cinema" collection is an inspiring journey exploring the connection between fashion and cinema, where cinematic stories are transformed into artistic fashion pieces.
The designer skillfully incorporated the romantic and dramatic elements of both classic and contemporary cinema into every detail of the garments – from bold silhouettes and evocative patterns to flowing fabrics. The collection is an artistic fusion of cinematic sensibilities, evoking nostalgia and a theatrical atmosphere, inviting wearers to immerse themselves in the magical world of films. Embodying Chula's distinctive Vietnamese-Spanish fusion aesthetic, the "Cinema" collection demonstrates that fashion can become a storytelling language that touches emotions and achieves artistic transcendence. Runway show time: 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM, April 24, 2025.

About the artists
Nguyen Thuy Hang (born 1978) is a visual artist, poet, and writer, a graduate of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts in 2002. Nguyen Thuy Hang possesses a deep understanding of both literature and visual art, drawing on her experiences growing up in post-war Vietnam and her artistic training and practice in both the West and Vietnam. Her writings, imbued with elements of mystery and chaos, reflect in her paintings and sculptures a sense of human isolation within a Vietnamese society that is increasingly connected to the world.

Duong Thuy Duong (born in 1979) graduated from the Burg Giebichenstein University of Fine Arts and Design in Germany in 2009; she currently lives and works in Berlin, Germany. Having absorbed the cultures and art of both countries, Duong's visual art is always a dialogue between Eastern and Western identities and concepts. Her oil paintings are multi-layered, employing various techniques to create optical illusions, all of which evoke a sense of questioning our belief in metaphysical narratives such as Creation, Evolution, Love, Life, and Death.

Hoang Anh (born in 1981) is an artist living and working in Da Lat. He graduated from Hue University of Arts in 2005. Hoang Anh is interested in the connections between human relationships and envisions the world around him at the boundary between reality and the extraordinary. Some of his notable exhibitions include: Unusual Landscapes (Wiking Salon, HCMC, 2024), Butterfly Dreams (Wiking Salon, HCMC, 2024), The Connection (New Space Arts Foundation, Hue, 2014), Moiland Chapters 1-2-3 (Da Lat, 2019-2021), and Boom! Mifa (born in 1990) graduated from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture in 2013 and is an artist living and working in Da Nang. Since 2015, she has focused on researching and experimenting with acrylic paint on traditional Vietnamese lacquer paper. Her works delve into the harmony and conflict of Eastern identity in the era of globalization, alongside a desire to preserve and develop folk spirit expressed through painting. Her artistic experimentation involves exploring and attempting to recreate painting techniques from ancient Eastern civilizations such as gold leaf application, calligraphy, watercolor, hand printing, and paper mounting, combined with her personal techniques inspired by the surface of Vietnamese lacquer paintings.
