Glamping: Camping in style

19/06/2017

If you enjoy camping in tents amidst nature with your friends, and still want to experience luxury amenities like those at a 5-star resort, then glamping—a more extravagant form of camping—will be the ideal choice for you this summer.

Camping doesn't always mean a lack of amenities or spartan conditions, mosquito bites, or waking up in the middle of the night because of rainwater leaking into the tent. Now, you'll get used to luxurious and comfortable camping, with a new type of experience: Glamping (*). These luxurious camping trips are a hot vacation trend worldwide and are gradually becoming popular among young people in Vietnam.

(*) Glamping: a portmantein of glamorous and camping, meaning luxurious camping.

Glamping is also a way to enjoy the feeling of being immersed in nature, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, relaxing and bonding with family members in an open space.

Convenient but private.

Imagine lounging in a luxurious wooden cabin with a private pool, watching the sunset over the vast, empty desert of the United Arab Emirates. Or perhaps taking a hot air balloon ride, exploring the steppe at night, and waking up surrounded by wildlife outside your cabin in the Masai Mara reserve in Kenya. These are just some of the unique experiences offered by glamping. Some glamping sites, like Warwick Castle, the famous castle in the UK, even transport visitors back in time, offering opportunities to learn fencing and archery, and relax like royalty in aristocratic-style tents reminiscent of the Middle Ages.

What constitutes the "standard" of luxurious glamping amenities is still a subject of debate. However, the most distinctive feature of glamping is the luxurious cabins, treehouses, igloos, tipi, and tents, always lavishly decorated from the exterior to the interior. They often have private toilets, and the tents are meticulously protected against water, fire, and insects, minimizing inconvenience. Glamping also incorporates high technology, allowing tourists to experience nature up close, sleeping by the beach or in the forest, while enjoying the comforts of home.

Of course, glamping differs from camping in that the privacy of visitors is always prioritized, alongside other services aimed at providing maximum comfort and enjoyment. Glamping tents are rarely placed close together like camping tents, but always have a certain distance between them so you can enjoy private moments of relaxation amidst pristine nature. You can combine glamping with horseback riding, fishing, snorkeling, mountain climbing, kayaking, archery. Or enjoy a hot, fragrant BBQ party with a glass of champagne, lying back and listening to an acoustic singer under a starry sky.

Where can I find glamping?

Vietnam has no shortage of unique, colorful, and well-equipped camping areas, but truly glamping according to international standards is only just beginning to emerge.

One of the luxurious glamping-oriented campsites is CoCo Beach Camp in Lagi, Binh Thuan province, 160 km from Ho Chi Minh City. Camping by the beach, enjoying delicious food and champagne, sleeping to the sound of waves, and feeling the night sea from a tent designed in Boho, Gypsy, or Rustic style… will make your summer even more fulfilling. Luxury tents at Coco Beach Camp are equipped with portable air conditioning, private toilets, and each tent can accommodate 5-15 people, suitable for couples, families, and groups of friends.

Located approximately 33km from Phan Thiet City towards Lagi, Lu Glamping is an exciting campsite and resort on Ke Ga Beach, Ham Thuan Nam District, Binh Thuan Province. Here, you'll find many attractive activities such as snorkeling, jet skiing, off-road UTV driving, and other thrilling sports. Lu Glamping offers various accommodation options including tents, containers, and cocoon rooms shaped like beehives.

If you want to experience life on the steppe in Mongolian-style nomadic tents, you can visit the Tanyoli Adventure Sports Resort in Son Hai village, Thuan Nam district, Ninh Thuan province, about 30km from the center of Phan Rang - Thap Cham city. In addition, you can enjoy activities such as archery and conquering the sand dunes on large off-road vehicles.
