Ha Giang launches the tour "Following in the footsteps of our heroes"

22/02/2022

The Ha Giang Provincial Tourism Association officially launched an experiential tourism product themed "Marching in the Footsteps of Heroes" to promote the potential and preserve historical relics through spiritual tourism; and at the same time, to pay tribute to the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their lives on the Vi Xuyen border front.

According to Mr. Lai Quoc Tinh, Chairman of the Ha Giang Provincial Tourism Association, this is the first product in a series of new experiential tourism activities, designed for travel companies to exploit, creating a dual goal of both educating the younger generation about historical traditions and developing socio-economic aspects, stimulating demand to attract tourists to Ha Giang through experiential and spiritual tourism.

On February 12th and 13th, the first "Following in the Footsteps of Our Heroes" experiential tourism program took place, with the participation of representatives from the province, Ha Giang newspaper, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and nearly 100 youth union members, veterans, and tourists from across the country.

During the experience, each visitor dons the uniform of a soldier of Uncle Ho's army and traverses nearly 20 km of muddy, steep forest trails on the "Spring Trench Route" from Thanh Son village, passing through several landmarks such as: the post-operative care unit, the blood stream of Pinh village, the Underworld Waterfall, border marker 261, Lo village cave… to Na Toong village in Thanh Thuy commune. Crossing the high points of the Vi Xuyen battlefield, this journey partly recreates the image of the army of yesteryear transporting food, weapons, and ammunition to the front lines of the border.

Mr. Lai Quoc Tinh further shared: “To commemorate the more than 40th anniversary of the battle to defend the northern border, and also to educate about our ancestral roots, we will strive to make this product an annual program. We hope that more and more tourists, especially the younger generation, will come to Ha Giang to learn and understand more deeply about our nation's history.”
