The idea of a motorbike trip to Ha Giang began to take shape in Thuy Tien's mind as a student, fueled by her desire not to miss out on the natural beauty along the way. “I'm passionate about traveling, but whenever I make plans with friends, those appointments are gradually forgotten. July is my summer break, and I wanted to experience and try a new way of traveling, so I decided to go on a motorbike trip. I thought that many people have already done it safely, and if I kept hesitating, I wouldn't be able to go and wouldn't have any special experiences,” Thuy Tien confided. The two words "first time"
Previously, Thuy Tien had taken many trips, but mostly chose to travel by public transport or bus. This is the first time the 20-year-old girl has dared to step out of her comfort zone to embark on more challenging motorbike trips in the future. After consulting various online groups, Thuy Tien chose Ha Giang as the milestone to mark her first motorbike trip.
Ha Giang, located in the northern mountainous region and at the northernmost point of Vietnam, is renowned for its pristine natural landscapes. In July, Ha Giang is covered in a vast, lush green carpet of mountains and forests. Golden sunlight illuminates every road and mountain pass, bringing everything to life. Therefore, it becomes an ideal destination for travel enthusiasts to fully explore the beauty of this summer landscape.

Unlike her previous trips, this young student signed up for a backpacking tour for the first time without knowing anyone in the group beforehand. Meeting strangers, but sharing a passion for exploring Vietnam's mountain passes, the group successfully conquered Ha Giang. Thuy Tien recounted: “Initially, I was a little worried that going alone without knowing anyone would make the trip less enjoyable, but everyone was very friendly, and I found like-minded people on this trip.”
For her first backpacking trip, Thuy Tien prepared herself with a relaxed mindset to fully enjoy the journey. Because she would be moving around a lot, the student only packed three or four outfits and avoided bringing unnecessary items.
The 20-year-old student, with her passion, set out to conquer the mountain passes of Ha Giang.
Choosing to travel by motorbike meant that weather was a crucial factor affecting the trip. Fortunately, the weather was favorable throughout, but perhaps the scorching July sun of Ha Giang is the memory Thuy Tien cherishes most. That July heat, however, seemed unable to discourage these enthusiastic young people, always eager to explore the many new things in life around them.
The group departed from Hanoi with their destination being Dong Van district, Ha Giang province.
The mountain pass road is full of treacherous and challenging curves.
A worthwhile experience.
Traveling nearly 400 km along dangerous and challenging mountain passes, the young people were rewarded handsomely. They witnessed magnificent natural scenery firsthand and captured precious memories with their cameras.
Thuy Tien excitedly shared: “Ha Giang has an indescribable beauty, but just gazing at the scenery here makes all worries disappear. The roads are also very dangerous, but when viewed from a certain angle, it's absolutely stunning. I've traveled through many different highland regions, but this is the place that has left the strongest impression on me.”
The natural scenery of Ha Giang appears majestic and poetic.
Besides admiring the beautiful scenery, the trip also gave Thuy Tien the opportunity to learn about rich traditional culture, enjoy new and unique dishes, and meet friendly people from many different ethnic groups.
In the near future, the 20-year-old girl plans to travel through all 25 provinces in Northern Vietnam, and then hopes to conquer all 63 provinces and cities of Vietnam. Thuy Tien also wants to try completely different forms of travel compared to the safe trips she has experienced before.
