Hanoia 2019: Vietnamese essence converges in one picture.

27/06/2019

Old window frames, weathered walls, peaceful moments with a cup of tea on a street corner, unforgettable vibrant pink hues, butterflies fluttering in a spring garden, or fragrant lotus blossoms on the pond… all are emotionally rich pieces that create the Vietnamese imprint of the Hanoia 2019 collection.

If you've often wondered what makes Hanoia lacquerware different, then the brand's recent advertising campaign provides the answer. It's a collection of stories and life-filled fragments that Hanoia's designers have captured in the patterns and colors of their 2019 collection after days of wandering and searching for inspiration across Vietnam.

When mentioning Vietnam, people often think of familiar images such as the Turtle Tower, the Temple of Literature, Ha Long Bay, Thien Mu Pagoda, Ben Thanh Market, etc. Many Vietnamese and foreign brands, from souvenirs to luxury goods, have used these symbols to represent memories of the S-shaped land. It's easy to spot a shirt with the word "Pho" on a European tourist, and it's not difficult to see the inspiration behind the traditional Ao Dai dress on the world's Fashion Week runways. Deeply ingrained in the consciousness of Vietnamese and foreign designers, these iconic images have become part of Vietnam's image presented to the world for many years.

But for Hanoia's designers, the Vietnamese imprint is expressed in a different way. The Vietnamese spirit, the Vietnamese memory, comes from every simple moment in life. It's a morning stroll down a small street, encountering a charming tea shop nestled under a green tree, the old woman selling tea with such a kind smile. It's retracing the old tram route from Mo Market to Hoan Kiem Lake, passing countless apartment complexes from the subsidy era, villas built at the beginning of the last century, old streets and houses, encountering countless windows and balconies with iron bars faded by the years, yet retaining their original charm. It's when the afternoon sun casts a golden hue on the pink walls of Tan Dinh Church, making that lovely and unique pink color captivate tourists. It's the full moon night in Hoi An ancient town, truly majestic and magnificent in the light of lanterns.

Or sometimes it's just a corner of a spring garden, bustling with birdsong and butterflies, a fragrant lotus pond in the middle of a summer afternoon… Little by little, the breath of life seeps into the emotions of the designers, giving rise to new ideas.

The "Ancient Style" collection draws inspiration from the graceful and elegant wrought iron gate patterns that once graced the streets of Hanoi. "Hang Dong" continues the story of the old streets and traditional crafts, a short street once famous for its exquisite copper carving. "An Yen" features the pristine white of Bat Trang porcelain, combined with the bamboo weaving craft of Vac village to honor the simple yet refined tea-drinking tradition of the Vietnamese people. "Dien Vien" captures the fragrant summers of lotus blossoms… Each designer at Hanoia is a wanderer – a wanderer across different regions, from the northernmost point of the country to the extreme point overlooking the vast ocean, from the forests to the seas, from remote villages to moss-covered houses in bustling cities. They are also wanderers within Vietnamese culture – travelers who possess a deep love, empathy, and understanding of the beauty of diverse cultures. Their journeys leave footprints everywhere, cherishing and nurturing the entire trip in the form of memories - the sweetest and most beautiful memories, bearing the name Vietnam.

There are many other product lines that don't feature iconic Vietnamese imagery, but behind their contemporary beauty lie stories, memories, and everyday fragments of life distilled into patterns, shapes, and colors. This is what makes the Hanoia 2019 collection unique. It is precisely because of this that Hanoia always offers those who appreciate Vietnamese handicrafts a distinct and different experience – a difference stemming from the most familiar and intimate elements of everyday life.
