The cherry blossoms bloomed, marking Wuhan's gradual recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. As the weather warmed, the cherry blossoms vied for attention, and the doctors and nurses who came to help Wuhan departed with glorious victories, leaving behind promises to return one day to admire the vibrant cherry blossoms.
As the weather gradually warms up, cherry blossoms are blooming profusely in Wuhan.

Spring in China arrived earlier than usual this year. Cherry blossoms have appeared earlier than normal in many places. Normally, cherry blossoms bloom in late March and early April. In Wuhan, too, spring is arriving early for this city of 11 million people. Since mid-March, cherry blossoms have been appearing all over Wuhan, from Wuhan University to its gardens. The blooming of the cherry blossoms also marks Wuhan's gradual recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Xinhua News Agency, People's Daily, and many other Chinese media outlets have installed cameras on the Wuhan University campus to live-stream the cherry blossoms "awakening" since the beginning of this week, with the live stream expected to last for about 10 days, from 10 am to 4 pm.

On the very first day, millions of people watched the livestream. The Wuhan University Weibo account also posted a link to the cherry blossom livestream with the introduction: "Today, I will show you cherry blossoms blooming on the cherry blossom road."

Wuhan University is famous for its cherry blossoms, attracting many visitors to admire them in the spring.

In February, when numerous doctors and nurses from across China arrived in Wuhan to assist in the fight against COVID-19, a group of medical professionals from Huashan Hospital of Fudan University in Shanghai received a letter of gratitude from the people of Wuhan.
In the letter, the people of Wuhan promised: "When the city presses the 'play button' again (meaning things return to normal), we, the people of Wuhan, will invite you and your loved ones to Wuhan to stroll around East Lake, admire the cherry blossoms, cruise the Yangtze River, and eat lobster. We believe that by then, you will have fallen in love with this city."
"Heroic Wuhan, where flowers still bloom!"
