The UPS Foundation, the organization leading UPS's global citizenship programs, has mobilized its global network to transport more than 2 million specialized medical masks and 11,000 protective suits to China free of charge by air, in response to the acute pneumonia outbreak caused by the coronavirus strain in Wuhan, China.
The shipments included: over 2 million medical masks and respirators, over 11,000 medical protective suits, and over 280,000 pairs of nitrile medical gloves.

Eduardo Martinez, President of the UPS Foundation, said: "The world needs strong public-private partnerships to help stop the spread of this virus. We have developed a global network of relief agencies to assist communities in crisis, and in this case, Wuhan really needs our help."
This UPS humanitarian flight landed at the UPS Shanghai International Center on Sunday, February 2nd, carrying personal protective equipment that is in short supply in China. The shipment included over 2 million medical masks and respirators, over 11,000 medical protective suits, and over 280,000 pairs of nitrile medical gloves.

The coronavirus is still spreading rapidly in China and has spread to many other countries, with over 24,000 cases of infection recorded and nearly 500 deaths.

Over the past year, the UPS Foundation has responded to a total of 28 major disasters worldwide and invested more than $20 million in fundraising, in-kind donations, and technical support for community security initiatives, including enhancing disaster preparedness, emergency response, disaster recovery, and public health.
