I arrived in Phu Quoc on a beautiful sunny day, determined to visit all the new places on this beautiful, wild and mysterious island. Before starting a trip to the forest and the sea, I and everyone stopped by Dinh Cau - a sacred and typical symbol of Phu Quoc to "register for temporary residence" for a few days on the island.

Legend has it that long ago, fishermen who sailed out to sea often encountered big waves and strong winds and never returned. Suddenly, from the bottom of the sea, a rock gradually emerged as a good omen bestowed by heaven and earth on the fishermen of the pearl island. People came here to worship and pray for calm seas before sailing out to sea. Dinh Cau appeared and has been a spiritual support in the hearts of Phu Quoc people since then.

From Dinh Cau, one can fully admire the beauty of the sunset where the waves roll, the sun shines its last rays of the day, gilding the sea surface, the shimmering golden light makes Dinh Cau even more stunning.
On the second day of my journey to explore the pearl island, I was determined to become a “fisherman” on the beautiful island to feel and deeply understand the soul of Phu Quoc. The car sped along the trail towards the primeval forest – a place where all the wonderful beauty of nature converges with majestic treetops, the sound of birds and gibbons singing in the middle of the pure and deep forest. Passing through the dense forests, Bai Thom appeared before the eyes of the wanderer like a fairy hiding behind the forest, peaceful and unconcerned with the affairs of the world.

At Bai Thom, immerse yourself in the cool blue water, work hard to catch fish, dive for sea urchins and snails, then gather with everyone to grill your spoils right on the beach. The sea urchins with their black, rough appearance have their sharp spines removed to become round, then split in half, add a little scallion oil and peanuts; on the heat of the charcoal, they quickly give off a fragrant aroma.
Only when you "harvest" delicious dishes from the ocean yourself, can you understand the hardships of fishermen. The sea urchin and snail pieces seem to be fatter on the tip of your tongue, their aroma blending with the salty sea breeze, intoxicating.

The most special feeling is when following the trail in the middle of the green forest to reach Da Ban stream - an extremely special place in Phu Quoc island district. Not as gentle and crowded as Tranh stream, Da Ban stream still retains its wildness with large and flat rocks like giant tables lying next to each other, interspersed with the stream sometimes rolling, sometimes babbling day and night and the peaceful forest canopy casting cool shade.
Legend has it that in ancient times, Da Ban stream was where fairies often stopped to bathe and then play and dance on the giant tables of nature. The pleasure I felt here was immersing myself in the clear stream water or bathing under the roaring waterfall, both were extremely interesting.
After hours of fun, everyone sat on large rocks to enjoy the forest breeze, enjoyed grilled chicken and sweet chicken porridge and felt like they were lost in another world of Phu Quoc paradise.

The remaining days, I continued my journey to explore Phu Quoc with many impressions of the South of the Island. Where there is Sao Beach with a long white sand beach like a crescent moon, embracing rows of rustling green coconut trees.
It is even more wonderful to sail to Hai Cay Dua Island to begin the journey of exploring the ocean. The dry rocky island in the middle of the ocean has two towering coconut trees growing from somewhere, making visitors curious and excited. Freely diving in the cool blue water, watching the colorful coral reefs or leisurely fishing on a boat, all are experiences that I can never forget.

The 3-day-2-night trip ended with a lot of emotions about a beautiful island, carrying colorful stories passed down through many generations of Phu Quoc people. I have been there and experienced it, what about you, pack your backpack and go?!
