According to the plan, Hoi An City (Quang Nam) will organize two main events: the "Hoi An - Welcome New Year" gala on December 31 and connect local tourism, welcoming the first group of visitors to the city on January 1, 2022. Both programs have issued invitations to guests and tourists. However, according to Mr. Nguyen Van Lanh, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, because there are many community infections in the area with unknown sources of infection, the locality decided to temporarily suspend these two programs and cancel a number of public activities to celebrate New Year 2022.

In particular, activities to welcome visitors on closed tours, street art and cultural events, experiential activities, visits to the old town and traditional craft villages are still operating normally to serve tourists. However, these activities must be carried out seriously and comply with Covid-19 epidemic prevention measures according to the official dispatch issued by the People's Committee of Quang Nam province.
Similarly, Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, Mr. Vo Le Nhat, said that the walking street around the Hue Imperial Citadel on Le Huan Street and 23/8 Street, along with the countdown music night to welcome 2022 scheduled to be held at the intersection in the city center, will also be temporarily suspended to prevent the Covid-19 epidemic. Both of these events were previously scheduled to open on the night of December 31.

In addition to suspending activities to celebrate the New Year, Hue City also recommends that people comply with the Ministry of Health's 5K epidemic prevention requirements. Customers entering restaurants and cafes must scan QR codes, wash their hands with sanitizer, and ensure distance between tables.
To date, Quang Nam province has recorded 5,576 Covid-19 cases, while Thua Thien-Hue has nearly 400 new infections per day.
