Over the years, automotive manufacturers have been continuously working for the benefit of consumers and the sustainable development of transportation in Vietnam by progressively innovating technology and introducing more fuel-efficient, low-emission, and environmentally friendly vehicles. These efforts are highly commendable in contributing to environmental pollution reduction, especially as the era of widespread car ownership in Vietnam is drawing closer, particularly in major cities.

The workshop also serves as an ideal platform for businesses and relevant agencies to directly exchange and discuss trends in the application of environmentally friendly technologies in the automotive industry; to encourage the introduction of new products applying advanced technologies; and to create opportunities for managers, scientists, students, consumers, the press, and those interested in automotive technology to gain a deeper understanding of some environmentally friendly automotive technologies from reputable manufacturers worldwide and in Vietnam in particular, in order to collaborate in promoting this trend.

Notably, at this workshop, member units introduced several environmentally friendly technologies that have been and are being applied, such as Ford's Eco-boost technology, FUSO's Canter E-cell Zero CO2 technology, Toyota's Toyota Hybrid technology, and Mitsubishi's PHEV technology.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Truong Thanh Hoai, Director of the Heavy Industry Department – Ministry of Industry and Trade, said: “The Vietnamese Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade have always supported the production and introduction of environmentally friendly vehicles in Vietnam. This orientation has been clearly demonstrated in the Automotive Industry Strategy and Planning as well as other related government policies. The trend of green consumption will also be the trend of the future, and we hope that with this seminar and with the Vietnam Auto Show 2016, we will together anticipate and lead the creation of a green consumption trend in Vietnam.”
