Every year, the Potcake Place dog rescue charity in the Turks & Caicos Islands recruits tourists willing to spend time on vacation playing with unadopted dogs.

Each recruitment drive sees long lines of people waiting outside the dog rescue center. They queue for up to two hours just to be cared for and play with the adorable puppies. Besides playing with the dogs, visitors can also take them for walks on Providenciales Island, part of the Turks & Caicos Islands in the Caribbean Sea.

Representatives from Potcake Place stated that caring for and cuddling these puppies is very important. They were once abandoned animals who spent time with humans. Therefore, by taking them for walks and playing with them, visitors can help alleviate their loneliness before they are moved to new homes.

Although unpaid, many animal-loving tourists traveling in the Caribbean still enjoy this job. They believe there's nothing better than strolling on the beach in a bikini while walking their adorable dogs. The requirements for this job include taking good care of the dogs, keeping them out in the sun for too long, and cleaning up their waste. You also must not pull the leash too hard, causing injury to the dog.

There are approximately 50-70 dogs cared for and raised at Potcake, mostly mixed breeds of Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherds, and English Fox Terriers. They are very intelligent, loyal, and lovable. Many people comment that this breed is "an incredibly cute combination." The breed is named Potcake because people on the Caribbean island often feed them leftover food from hot pots.

Hundreds of abandoned Potcake dogs are found on the island, and their natural breeding has led to a significant increase in the stray dog population. Potcake Place was established to provide a "home" for these homeless dogs, where they will be cared for by volunteer dog-loving tourists.

This organization helps approximately 500 dogs find adoption each year, completely free of charge. Potcake Place also assists visitors with transporting their new pets home. While waiting to be adopted, visitors can stop by and walk the dogs at the center. Everything from leashes, water bottles, bowls, toys, and treats is provided by Potcake Place.

The Caribbean rescue center's website reads: "Please stop by, meet some of the dogs and learn more about our work. We have many puppies looking for owners. You can come and take a puppy for a walk on the beach; we'll provide everything you need, all you have to do is share some love with these dogs."
