Huacachina - an enchanting oasis in the desert

Located just 8 km from the city of Ica, southern Peru, Huacachia is famous for its picturesque natural oasis. Built around a cool blue lake nestled among towering sand dunes, Huacachina offers tourists a completely different feeling and unexpected experiences.

Nestled between the burning sand dunes, Huacachina appears before visitors' eyes with a large lake and cool green trees.

Traveling an hour from the Pacific coast, crossing the sand dunes as hot as the Sahara desert, visitors will see a small oasis, a cool blue lake and green trees that seem to dispel the scorching heat outside.

Huacachina has almost no houses, only hotels, motels and resorts that serve tourists. In fact, the population here is only about 100 people and most of them work in jobs that depend on the tourism industry here.

Huacachina has long been a popular stopover for Peru’s elite. Today, the small oasis attracts adventurers from all over the world who love sand dune thrills.

Seen from above, Huacachina is not really large in area, the trees and the motels are all surrounding a natural lake but this lake itself creates a precious landscape in the middle of the burning desert.

Besides the natural lake, resorts in Huacachina also built a number of artificial swimming pools to serve the swimming activities of tourists.

Huacachina sparkles at night. From here, the oasis is quite close to the city of Ica and has planned roads and streetlights on both sides, instead of the difficult trails found in other deserts.

This is the ideal destination for those who are passionate about sand dune games.
