In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic seriously affecting global tourism in general and Korean tourism in particular, the exchange, promotion and promotion activities of Korean tourism of the Korea Tourism Organization in Vietnam (KTO) have gradually shifted to online platforms and used digital technology.

From November 24 to 27, the largest MICE tourism fair in Korea, KOREA MICE EXPO 2020 (KME 2020), was organized by KTO online with many activities such as introducing MICE tourism in Korea, connecting trade between Korean tourism units and major tourism companies in Vietnam.
This event has the participation of more than 200 agencies and tourism units in the field of MICE tourism in Korea. In Vietnam, 23 large travel companies such as Vietravel, Hanoi Tourism, Saigontourist, Ben Thanh Tourist... and KTO participated in KME on November 24 and 26, 2020.

As part of a series of activities to reconnect tourism exchanges between Vietnam and Korea, the Korea Night 2020 program was also held with the participation of nearly 40 press and media units and 70 travel companies in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The program introduced prominent MICE tourism spaces in Korea, new destinations of Korean tourism and especially the promotional and promotion activities of KTO in the current market recovery period.

“In the near future, KTO will step up promotional activities in Vietnam to re-promote the market and accompany travel companies as soon as international tourism opens,” said Mr. Park Jong Sun, Chief Representative of KTO.

In recent years, Vietnam has always been a key market for Korean tourism. According to KTO statistics, the number of Vietnamese tourists to Korea reached more than 457 thousand, an increase of more than 40% compared to 2017. By 2019, this number had reached more than 553 thousand, an increase of more than 20% compared to 2018. These numbers show the importance of the Vietnamese market for Korean tourism. In the opposite direction, Korea has also become the second most important market, after China, for Vietnamese tourism.
