Bustling with tourists
Mr. Tran Van Chien from Nghe An shared: "After a year of hard work studying, both of my children achieved excellent grades. Through the media, I learned that Da Nang would be holding a fireworks display again this year, so I rewarded them with a 'party' of fireworks on the opening night. We took a bus in the morning, and luckily, there were no incidents along the way, so now (5 PM on June 2nd) we have arrived in Da Nang in time to watch the opening fireworks." Ms. Phan Thi Ngoc Lan, Director of the Central Bus Station (Da Nang City), said: Because it is the summer vacation period, especially since Da Nang City is reorganizing the international fireworks festival after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of tourists coming to Da Nang for tourism and to watch the fireworks has increased significantly this summer. Just in June 1st and 2nd alone, the number of buses arriving at the Central Bus Station averaged over 300 per day, an increase of about 5-10% compared to normal days.
At Da Nang Railway Station, according to Mr. Doan Kim Tuan, Head of the Da Nang Railway Station Passenger Transport Team, the number of tourists arriving at Da Nang Railway Station on June 1st and 2nd increased by nearly 50% compared to normal days. Specifically, on average, there are only about 800 tourists on normal days, but on these two days, there were nearly 1,600 tourists arriving in Da Nang each day. "To serve tourists during this summer, especially those from the North coming to Da Nang for tourism and to watch the fireworks displays held in June and July 2023, the railway industry has added two more Thong Nhat trains," Mr. Doan Kim Tuan further informed.
In particular, the largest proportion of tourists arriving in Da Nang by air were those combining tourism with watching the fireworks. According to the leaders of Da Nang International Airport, on June 2nd alone, there were 130 domestic and international flights to the airport, the same number as in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic. Litmanen, a Finnish tourist who arrived in Da Nang on a flight late in the afternoon of June 2nd, shared: "This is my first time coming to Da Nang to combine tourism with watching the fireworks. This year, my country is competing again at DIFF-2023. Besides enjoying the amazing fireworks displays, I also cheer for my team and hope the Finnish fireworks team will achieve the championship title at DIFF-2023 like they did at DIFF-2019."

Find free restrooms on the Danang Smart City app.
On June 2nd, the Da Nang City Department of Information and Communications announced that it has integrated a "free public restroom" feature into the Danang Smart City application, allowing residents and tourists to easily find free restrooms at businesses, restaurants, hotels, and other food establishments.
According to Tran Ngoc Thach, Deputy Director of the Da Nang City Department of Information and Communications, to find free public restrooms, residents and tourists simply need to download the Danang Smart City application to their phones, open the "Free Public Restrooms" section, and then select a facility with free restrooms near their current location. The application will display information such as: the name of the facility offering free restroom use, its address, the distance from the user's location to the restroom, and directions to easily find the nearest restroom. Currently, the application has updated 294 locations, including 228 in Hai Chau District and 66 in Son Tra District.
Taxi drivers are ready to pick up tourists arriving at Da Nang Train Station for sightseeing and watching the fireworks.
Previously, in March 2023, the People's Committee of Son Tra District, Da Nang City, began re-implementing the "Comfort as Home" model. This is a form of socializing public restrooms that has been embraced by many hotels, restaurants, and accommodation establishments, contributing to reducing improper sanitation practices and promoting a friendly image of the city.
According to Tran Ngoc Thach, Deputy Director of the Da Nang City Department of Information and Communications, on June 1st, the Department issued a document requesting the People's Committees of districts and communes to continue encouraging businesses, restaurants, hotels, and food establishments to participate in sharing and using public restrooms for the community, so that information can be updated on mobile applications to better serve residents and tourists. At the same time, the Department assigned the City's Smart Information and Monitoring Center as the coordinating body and to allocate personnel to regularly update complete information and data on public restrooms, free of charge.
Danang Smart City is a smart city application integrating multiple services and utilities, launched in 2020, with over 1.2 million downloads and users, providing services, utilities, and information to residents in Da Nang city.
