Official data on tourist arrivals in Vietnam during the first quarter of 2024 has just been released by the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, showing an impressive 4.6 million international visitors. This is a positive sign, as the number of tourists has surpassed pre-pandemic levels for the same period. Notably, South Korea, a potential and important tourism market for Vietnam, led the way in this figure.
In addition to information from the General Statistics Office, the Agoda travel platform has also revealed a noteworthy finding: South Korean tourists are increasingly drawn to Vietnam's fine sandy beaches and clear blue waters. Specifically, the top four destinations favored by South Korean tourists are Da Nang, Nha Trang, Hoi An, and Phu Quoc. These are famous locations known for their stunning natural beauty, luxury resorts, and diverse and attractive tourist activities.
Many Vietnamese beaches captivate tourists.
However, it's noteworthy that Ho Chi Minh City only ranked fifth on the list of most popular destinations for South Korean tourists. This may reflect South Korean tourists' interest in relaxing travel experiences and natural landscapes rather than crowded and bustling cities.
Korean tourists show a great deal of interest in beach tourism.
Previously, the General Statistics Office of Vietnam reported that in the first quarter of 2024, Vietnam witnessed a significant increase of over 1.2 million tourists, a 10% increase compared to the same period in 2019 – before the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak. This is a positive sign and evidence of the strong recovery of Vietnam's tourism industry after a difficult period.
Last month, South Korea's renowned SBS Golf channel selected Da Nang and Phu Quoc as destinations for its program "Golf & Travel in Vietnam," featuring four famous female golfers from South Korea. This choice was not only an opportunity to showcase the beauty of Vietnam on television but also a chance to promote golf tourism, a segment that is increasingly gaining attention and development in Vietnam.
The "Golf & Travel in Vietnam" program is expected to spread the image of a colorful Vietnam, with luxurious resorts, diverse and high-quality experiential activities, attracting a wide range of Korean tourists. Vietnam is presented as an ideal destination not only for golfers but also for those who want to explore the unique natural beauty and culture of the country.
