Food design studio Bompas & Parr has created the “world’s first” vegan resort suite inside a London hotel, ditching the use of leather, wool and feathers throughout its interior. Pinatex, a vegan-friendly leather alternative – made from fibres derived from waste pineapple leaves – was used to furnish the room.

The suite has a large bedroom, living area and bathroom, with lush green nature motifs decorating the grey walls. The carpet material has also been replaced with cotton instead of the usual wool. Feather pillows have been replaced with buckwheat hulls or millet and fibers from the tropical kapok tree or bamboo.

Furnished entirely with plant-based ingredients, this unique hotel room was created by Bompas & Parr to prove that veganism is not just a food trend, but can influence lifestyle in general.

This exclusive five-star hotel room is available at the Hilton London Bankside, on Great Suffolk Road, close to the Southbank Tube station and the River Thames. The room costs £549 per night.

All snacks, stationery and cleaning products used by housekeeping staff are also "free" of animal products.

This isn't the first time Bompas & Parr has worked with eco-friendly materials. In 2016, the agency used bioluminescent algae to create a collection of glow-in-the-dark jewelry.
Most recently, designers have been working to create the “world’s first non-melting ice block,” amid global warming and the growing need to keep foods fresher for longer.
