According to preliminary statistics, about 150,000 tourists and Buddhists made pilgrimages to the sacred Yen Tu mountain, an increase of 25% compared to last year.
At 8:00 a.m. on February 14 (January 10, year of the Pig), the Yen Tu Festival officially began at the Yen Tu ceremony ground, belonging to the Truc Lam Yen Tu Cultural Center.
Mr. Pham Van Duoc, Deputy Head of the Yen Tu National Forest and Monument Management Board, said: “Before Tet, we also repaired the steps that were warped. In addition, some dangerous railings and slopes were also repaired and renewed. At some central pagodas such as Hoa Yen, An Ky Sinh or the bus station, we also arranged medical stations to provide timely first aid to tourists when they have an accident while traveling. We ensure the best for tourists when coming to Yen Tu.”

Uong Bi City also mobilized functional forces to ensure security, order, traffic safety, and prepared plans to pick up and drop off tourists by bus from Highway 18A to Yen Tu and pilgrimage routes connecting tourists with Yen Tu tourist area; handle cars that do not run on the right route, illegal vehicles picking up passengers on Yen Tu route...; at the same time, check the tourism business environment, limit stalking and soliciting at the festival; ensure food safety, check price posting, quality of goods and selling at regulated prices... and resolutely handle acts that disrupt security and order, and superstitious acts.
Thousands of Buddhists attended the flower lantern festival to pray for national peace and prosperity.
Previously, on the evening of February 13, at Trinh Pagoda (Phuong Dong, Uong Bi, Quang Ninh), the Quang Ninh Buddhist Sangha together with a large number of people and visitors solemnly held a forest opening ceremony to open the Yen Tu Festival 2019.
