According to preliminary statistics, approximately 150,000 tourists and Buddhist pilgrims visited the sacred Yen Tu mountain, a 25% increase compared to last year.
At 8:00 AM on February 14th (the 10th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Pig), the Yen Tu Festival officially began at the Yen Tu ceremonial grounds, part of the Truc Lam Yen Tu Cultural Center.
Mr. Pham Van Duoc, Deputy Head of the Management Board of Yen Tu National Monument and Forest, said: “Before Tet, we repaired the steps that were warped. In addition, some dangerous railings and steep slopes were also repaired and renovated. At some central temples such as Hoa Yen, An Ky Sinh, and the bus station, we also set up medical stations to provide timely emergency care for tourists in case of accidents while traveling. We ensure the best possible conditions for tourists visiting Yen Tu.”

Uong Bi City is also focusing its efforts on ensuring security, order, and traffic safety, preparing plans to transport tourists by bus from Highway 18A to Yen Tu and other pilgrimage routes connecting tourists to the Yen Tu tourist area; dealing with cars operating off-route and unlicensed vehicles picking up passengers on the Yen Tu route...; simultaneously inspecting the tourism business environment, limiting harassment and touting at the festival; ensuring food safety, checking price listings, product quality, and selling goods at regulated prices... and resolutely dealing with acts that disrupt security and order, and superstitious practices.
Thousands of Buddhists attended the Lantern Festival ceremony to pray for national peace and prosperity.
Earlier, on the evening of February 13th, at Trinh Pagoda (Phuong Dong, Uong Bi, Quang Ninh), the Quang Ninh Buddhist Association, along with a large number of local people and visitors from all over, solemnly organized the ceremony of opening the forest, marking the beginning of the Yen Tu Festival 2019.
