“Stepping into the history of One Pillar Pagoda with Virtual Reality Technology” is a project undertaken by SEN Heritage, a group of researchers, architects, artists, and young people who love traditional Vietnamese culture.
The One Pillar Pagoda was built in 1049 during the reign of King Ly Thai Tong and has been restored and rebuilt many times throughout the Tran, Later Le, and Nguyen dynasties, most recently in the mid-20th century. With each "makeover," the pagoda has become increasingly different from its original form as built by the Ly dynasty.

Therefore, SEN Heritage spent three years researching the ruins of the stone pillar at Dạm Pagoda – believed to be the pillar supporting the ancient One-Pillar Pagoda – and the Sùng Thiện Diên Linh stele, a perfect work of sculptural art and the only remaining original text from the Lý Dynasty mentioning the One-Pillar Pagoda, along with many other cultural and Buddhist documents in the region, in order to recreate the most authentic Diên Hựu Pagoda with the finest architecture of the Lý Dynasty.

Representatives from SEN Heritage stated that the project not only focuses on cultural and artistic elements, but also meticulously measures architectural proportions based on specific data, aiming to not only allow viewers to "step into history," but more importantly, to "walk through history."
The stunning scenery of the temple during its early construction days is recreated using VR.
From the virtual tour project of the One Pillar Pagoda during the Ly Dynasty, SEN Heritage "dreams" that one day the pagoda will be restored to its full size, giving Vietnamese people the opportunity to "touch the thousand-year-old artifact" and immerse themselves in the magnificent space of court Buddhist art.
