U Minh Thuong boasts a pristine and majestic beauty, situated within a world biosphere reserve and is Vietnam's 8th Ramsar site. It is also a complex of revolutionary base relics associated with the proud achievements of the people during the two wars of resistance against France and the United States.

Therefore, over the years, the Kien Giang Provincial Relics Management Board has researched and planned the restoration of U Minh Thuong in order to maximize its natural advantages and transform the site into a culturally significant tourist destination: meeting the needs of those seeking to understand national history while providing a pleasant green space in a unique ecological area.

In the coming time, the Provincial Museum will collect more historical images and artifacts and display them in the Xeo Gia historical site. Damaged historical sites have been demarcated by the Kien Giang Department of Culture and Sports to plan for appropriate protection or restoration. U Minh Thuong was once a Central Committee base in the South during the war. Therefore, during the restoration process, Kien Giang province has recreated a typical revolutionary base here, as a proud reminder of the historical events of the past.

Furthermore, visiting the over 40-year-old melaleuca forest – the former base of the Rach Gia Regional and Provincial Party Committees – has become easier thanks to the newly constructed system of melaleuca bridges. In addition, many victory monuments and memorial plaques will be built in the near future, with the aim of combining ecotourism with the promotion of national culture and history.
