Al-Maktoum Stadium is considered one of the most beautiful stadiums in the Middle East. Its multi-purpose nature allows it to be used for many sports. However, Al-Maktoum is primarily used for football matches.

Al-Maktoum Stadium was built in 1995 and has a capacity of 12,000 people. It is also the home stadium of Al Nasr team.

By 2018, the stadium had been upgraded to host the Asian Cup. The seating capacity also increased from 12,000 to 15,000.

Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council, shared at a press conference in December 2018: "This is a new destination, a new stadium that we need. We already have some world-class stadiums in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and now Dubai."

The stadium's facade can be illuminated and its colors changed, reminiscent of the Allianz Arena in Munich.

The seats in the stadium are all blue, paying homage to the Al Nasr club, and the front of the stadium bears a striking resemblance to Hazza bin Zayed, the iconic stadium in Al Ain.

This is also the venue for the heated match between Vietnam and Jordan to qualify for the Round of 16. Al-Maktoum Stadium will host six matches of the 2019 Asian Cup, including one Round of 16 match and one Quarter-final match.

Interestingly, this is also the location where pop star Michael Jackson chose to hold two concerts during his Dangerous World Tour, but the shows were later canceled due to personal problems the singer was facing.
