Con Son is a small islet located in the middle of the Hau River, connecting the two provinces of Can Tho and Vinh Long. With a sparse population, only about 100 households living here, this place possesses the rustic beauty of the Southern countryside. Nature has bestowed Con Son with a rich natural ecosystem, with green, fruit-laden orchards.
The name "Con Son" originates from the history of the formation of this place. In the past, the island grew a lot of lacquer trees, a rare tree species used to make gilded lacquer, used to decorate wooden furniture. Traditional craft villages in Con Son have existed for a long time and are gradually fading away. The community has shifted from agricultural production to fish farming and seasonal fruit growing.
The delegation was welcomed with warmth and enthusiasm by the local people.
It is known that Con Son tourist area was born in 2004, originating from the program "A day as a farmer" of a group of students. The support of the local community helped the students complete this program. Since then, this place began to focus on community tourism, and has developed until now. In 2015, the tourist area officially came into operation. Over time, this place has become more and more known and attracted many visitors. Each family on the island does business in their own way, creating unique tourist experiences for visitors. The enthusiasm and generosity of the local people have contributed significantly to helping this place receive more and more love and affection from tourists.
Miss Can Tho Tourism Huynh Thuy Vi is proud that her hometown has a variety of unique cakes.
After a traditional cake making experience at Con Son, sharing with Travellive, beauty Huynh Thuy Vi said: "When making or eating cakes, in addition to the delicious taste, I also feel proud because I am from the West, proud because my hometown has rich and unique cakes. As a child of the West, Huynh Thuy Vi - Miss Tourism of Can Tho City is not too unfamiliar with the traditional cakes here. But every time she gets to make cakes herself, she is filled with emotions and childhood memories come flooding back.

"Western people are very friendly and hospitable. When guests come to their house, they bring out chickens and ducks to entertain them. Even though it is the first time they meet, they feel warm and familiar as if they have known each other for a long time," Thuy Vi said. Indeed, they are not very rich, but perhaps the gentle river region with alluvial deposits all year round has given them a priceless asset, which is the "pure" Western character.
