Khanh Hoa will pilot a program to welcome international tourists using "vaccine passports".

The People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province has just agreed in principle to develop a pilot plan to welcome international tourists with "vaccine passports" via charter flights to the locality.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province assigned the Department of Tourism to take the lead in coordinating with the Department of Health and the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association to develop a detailed plan, gather opinions from relevant departments, agencies, localities, units, and organizations; and compile a report to the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee before finalizing and submitting it to the Provincial People's Committee for decision.

The pilot plan to welcome international tourists with "vaccine passports" via charter flights to Khanh Hoa must be updated with the latest directives from the Government and central ministries and agencies. Local leaders also requested that if implemented, it should only be a small-scale pilot program with minimal impact on local socio-economic activities and the lives of surrounding residents.

At the same time, the plan must have a mechanism for close coordination between functional agencies of the province, central ministries and departments, local authorities, and relevant organizations and individuals; clear assignment of tasks and implementation only at a time appropriate to the reality of Covid-19 prevention and control work in the province.

According to the Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism, when the pilot program is approved, the locality will prioritize groups of tourists who enjoy beach holidays, use integrated tourism services at tourist areas, play golf, and travel minimally.

International tourists with a "vaccine passport" are those who have received both doses of a vaccine, with accompanying certificates, and have tested negative for the PT-PCR test within 72 hours before departure.

The vaccine passport program is expected to be launched in August 2021. The reception areas will be hotels, resorts, and vacation properties on Bai Dai Beach (Cam Ranh City).
