The Kingdom of Denmark is a Scandinavian country. With famous tourist attractions such as the Little Mermaid statue associated with the great writer Andersen, the Charlottenborg Palace of the Royal Family, and the Faroe Islands with their countless bird species, it beckons visitors to experience and explore the beauty of this country.

Time to travel to Denmark

From May to early June is an ideal time to travel to Denmark. The temperature is quite warm and pleasant, and best of all, you'll avoid the peak tourist season. Towards the end of June, several major festivals take place, such as Roskilde, a street festival.

Denmark is one of the happiest countries in the world..

Autumn is quite pleasant, however, the scenery isn't beautiful everywhere. The countryside is mostly a deep brown. Winters in Denmark are very cold, so there are usually fewer tourists during this season. Many tourist attractions close from October until the end of April.

Means of transportation

Trains in Denmark are used as one of the easiest and most convenient modes of transportation. In addition, the bus system is also excellent, with superb service and, most importantly, a wide variety of routes to choose from.
If you enjoy cycling, Denmark is the ideal place to explore because the terrain is quite flat. You can borrow bicycles for free from the city and get around on your own or explore the beautiful countryside. You only need to pay a deposit, which will be refunded after you return the bike.
To get to the islands, there is a regularly operating ferry system. You can explore the beautiful scenery on the islands surrounding Copenhagen.

Tourist attractions

Denmark is brimming with green spaces, boasting numerous parks, gardens, and trees, resulting in very fresh air. Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, is one of the greenest cities in the world, attracting tourists with its Venetian-like charm and intricate network of canals. It would be delightful to sit on a boat and admire the charming houses lining the canals.
Copenhagen is also attractive because of its well-preserved ancient architecture, including castles and churches. Some notable castles in Copenhagen include Charlottenborg (the royal summer palace), Amalienborg (the winter palace), and Christianborg (house of parliament, the Supreme Court, and the Prime Minister's office), which are popular destinations for tourists.

Tivoli is the world's second oldest amusement park and also a vibrant flower garden. The park is a green space with refreshing lakes, playgrounds with plenty of rides, and food options for families with young children. At night, the garden is brilliantly illuminated. Adjacent to Tivoli Park is the Glyptotek Sculpture Museum. Also nearby is the Tussaud Wax Museum, open since 1894. Visitors will be amazed to encounter nearly 300 famous figures from around the world, from movie stars to politicians.

The statue of the Little Mermaid has become a symbol of Denmark.

One must-see attraction in Copenhagen is the Little Mermaid statue, situated on a rock overlooking the Oresund Bay, which has become a symbol of Denmark. To the north of the Little Mermaid statue is the 1km-long Langelinie pier, a dock for a large number of boats. This area attracts many tourists and locals alike.
Located 5 km from the capital Copenhagen is a wonderful beach, one of the most beautiful in Denmark, with smooth white sand dunes, perfect for swimming and sunbathing. Leaving the capital, you'll find peaceful and picturesque countryside with charming villages and ancient castles.

Eat and drink

Denmark is famous for its pastries, especially Wienerbrød, a delicious apple and almond cream-filled pastry. You'll see long lines of people queuing in front of bakeries just to buy a cup of coffee and a freshly baked wienerbrød in the morning.

Smørrebrød, a traditional Danish lunch dish.

Smørrebrød sandwiches: often enjoyed as a light lunch, these sandwiches consist of slices of rye bread served with ham, smoked fish, cheese, or pâté – absolutely delicious. For food connoisseurs, there's only one place in the city that offers this: Ida Davidsen. Several other affordable options are available, such as at local markets, Mediterranean buffets, pizza restaurants, or Greek food options.

Shopping in Denmark

Depending on your travel style, your daily expenses will vary. If you stay in budget accommodations and prepare your own meals, you'll spend an average of $40 USD per day. If you stay in a luxury hotel and eat at restaurants, you could spend $70-$100 USD per day. Hotel room rates and shopping are subject to a 25% tax. Additionally, in Denmark, you only need to tip a small amount to service staff; service charges are usually included in the bill.

Other notes

You can exchange money at any bank in Denmark. Banks are usually open from 9 am to 4 pm on weekdays. Some banks stay open until 5:30 pm or 6 pm on Thursdays. You can also exchange money at roadside exchange points in Copenhagen, however, the exchange rates are quite low.
