In 1998, AccorHotels opened the Sofitel Saigon Plaza, the group's first luxury hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. Previously, in 1991, the group opened its doors to welcome visitors at the Sofitel Legend Metropole, located in the heart of Hanoi's Old Quarter.

“Over the past decades, Vietnam has become one of the world’s most attractive tourist destinations, attracting visitors to its majestic mountains, bustling cities and white-sand beaches,” said Mr. Patrick Basset, Chief Operating Officer of AccorHotels Upper Southeast - Northeast Asia and Maldives. “Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City continue to modernize rapidly, while the colonial-style architecture and ancient landmarks still bring great appeal.”

“Over the past 20 years, Sofitel Saigon Plaza has become an iconic hotel with French-style art de vivre, colonial-inspired architecture and the city’s rich history. As a luxurious urban resort destination, the hotel is located close to many of the city’s bustling destinations,” said Olivier Revy, General Manager of Sofitel Saigon Plaza.

Currently, AccorHotels manages 28 hotels in Vietnam, of which 12 are in the luxury and high-end segment. The group plans to open 19 more hotels in the next two years, following the acquisition of the Fairmont, Raffles, Swissôtel and most recently Mövenpick brands. It is known that in December, AccorHotels will open a new hotel in Sapa. Although AccorHotels always exploits and develops services in famous tourist destinations in Vietnam, with strict management, the group will not affect nature and the ecosystem.
