The project not only digitizes the more than 35-year exploration journey of Howard Limbert's expedition, but also realizes the goal of preserving heritage in conjunction with national digital transformation.

Son Doong, the world's largest natural cave, has long been a coveted destination for adventure enthusiasts worldwide. However, with limited tickets and demanding physical fitness requirements, not everyone has the opportunity to set foot in this magnificent labyrinth of stalactites and stalagmites.

Recently, the Phong Nha Cave Exploration Information Center, inaugurated in Phong Nha commune, Quang Binh province, introduced new technology to overcome that barrier. Here, the public can for the first time admire the breathtaking scale of Son Doong Cave through a 5D VR virtual reality tour, marking a turning point in digitizing heritage and promoting Vietnamese tourism to the world.

The architectural space of the Phong Nha Cave Exploration Information Center is designed as a work of art, perfectly mimicking the natural cave structure right in the heart of the mountain town. Visitors will be amazed by the meticulously crafted ceiling with its vividly hanging stalactites.

Virtual reality experiences give viewers a realistic sense of an expedition.

The artistic lighting system, combined with modern ventilation technology, creates cool air currents, giving visitors the feeling of actually passing through million-year-old limestone formations. This sophisticated blend of architectural art and simulation techniques has created a vibrant exhibition space where Son Doong Cave is recreated in the most dignified way.

Particularly noteworthy is the exhibition area showcasing documents about the more than 35-year journey of exploring the depths of the earth by "legends" like Howard Limbert, Debora Claire Limbert, and Ho Khanh. Here, visitors can access valuable footage, specialized exploration equipment, and, most importantly, a detailed, hand-drawn system of cave maps. To enhance interaction, visitors can listen to live explanations or scan QR codes to access information in five languages: Vietnamese, English, French, Spanish, and German.

The most impressive highlight is the 5D VR tour of Son Doong Cave. For 500,000 VND for a 15-minute ride, visitors are equipped with state-of-the-art VR glasses with sharp 8K image resolution. 5D technology not only provides stunning visuals but also integrates realistic physics effects such as wind whistling through rock crevices, damp fog, and the exhilarating feeling of flying through giant sinkholes. Visitors will be guided through the magnificent stalactite formations in Va Cave, experiencing the incredible scale of Son Doong Cave and exploring the mysterious underground rivers previously only accessible to professional explorers.
