As autumn arrives, Hanoi seems to don a new, gentler, and more romantic cloak. In the late afternoons, sitting with friends over a warm cup of coffee, gazing at the city streets through a window or from a small balcony, what could be more wonderful? That peaceful feeling is something only autumn can offer. In particular, I love seeking out vintage cafes hidden within the old villas of Hanoi.
On a leisurely autumn afternoon, I decided to visit L'etage – a place I'd been curious about for a long time. After parking my motorbike and blending into the bustling crowd on the pedestrian street, I had to be very sharp-eyed to find the narrow entrance to the cafe. Feeling like I was searching for treasure, I weaved my way through the small alley on Hang Khay street to reach L'etage. The cafe was hidden behind a modest passageway, making finding it even more exciting.
