Ly Son Island is asserting its position as one of the most valuable hidden gems on the domestic tourism map as it enters the peak summer season. According to the latest statistics, Ly Son Special Economic Zone in Quang Ngai province is the top destination with the highest search growth for Vietnamese tourists during the period leading up to the major holiday from the beginning of June to the end of July.
The irresistible allure of million-year-old sedimentary cliffs, crystal-clear seawater, and unique local culture is creating a powerful wave of migration.
To proactively anticipate the surge in tourists flocking to the central coast, Phu Quoc Express high-speed ferry company has officially introduced a highly flexible new operating plan for the Sa Ky to Ly Son route.
According to company representatives, starting from May 30th, the company will add the Phu Quoc Express 5 high-speed ferry to its direct operating fleet, running alongside the Phu Quoc Express 27, which has been familiar to locals and tourists for some time now.
This is a modern, high-speed catamaran with a spacious deck design and high stability in rough seas, providing maximum peace of mind for passengers prone to seasickness. With a capacity of up to 286 seats and international-standard amenities, the arrival of this red warship is expected to significantly reduce the overcrowding and ticket shortages to Ly Son Island that are common during the summer months.
The increased frequency of ferry services is poised to ease the pressure from the booming sea and island tourism industry.
Adding more high-quality transportation options is not merely a temporary solution for the peak summer tourist season, but also part of a long-term strategy to improve the quality of tourism services in Quang Ngai. With proper investment in maritime transportation infrastructure, the journey to the garlic island will become shorter, safer, and much more convenient for tourists.
A representative from Phu Quoc Express affirmed that the company will fulfill its commitment to the local authorities in maintaining a stable ferry frequency, and will proactively increase the number of trips based on weather conditions and actual market demand, ensuring that no passengers are stranded at the terminals.
The addition of the Phu Quoc Express 5 has increased the total number of vessels operating on the Sa Ky to Ly Son route to six, creating a very busy maritime transportation network. The entire route's operating schedule has also been adjusted to four trips each way daily, making it easier for tourists to arrange their travel time to suit their personal schedules.
Specifically, ferries departing from Sa Ky port to the island will depart at fixed times including 7:00 AM, 8:30 AM, 10:00 AM, and the last trip of the morning at 12:00 PM. Conversely, the journey from Dinh pier on Ly Son island back to the mainland will pick up passengers at 8:30 AM, 10:45 AM, 12:15 PM, and 2:15 PM, ensuring a smooth and continuous flow of passengers.
Tourists can conveniently book train tickets online through digital systems or purchase them directly at ticket counters at both ends of the port.
Ly Son (Quang Ngai) leads the list of domestic destinations with the highest search growth nationwide during the summer holiday.
Alongside optimizing flight frequency, the pricing policy for the Sa Ky - Ly Son high-speed ferry has also been publicly listed and applied at a very reasonable cost, suitable for the budgets of many different customer groups.
The official price for adults is 182,000 VND per trip, while children enjoy a discounted price of 128,000 VND per trip. For senior citizens, the ticket price is set at 147,000 VND per trip, and for people with disabilities, it is 112,000 VND per trip.
To show appreciation and support the livelihoods of the local people, the company has set a special price of 149,000 VND per trip for local residents with household registration in the island district and 102,000 VND per trip for tour guides accompanying groups.
Additionally, passengers wishing for a luxurious and private experience can opt for the VIP ticket class at a price of 238,000 VND per person.
