From above, the Maldives looks like strings of pearls shimmering beneath the cobalt blue waters of the shallow, warm Indian Ocean.

The Maldives, an island nation located near the equator in South Asia, south-southwest of India, has always been a dream destination for many when it comes to beach tourism. Comprising 1,192 coral islands clustered into 26 groups, with approximately 200 inhabited islands, the Maldives' tourism "specialty" is its world-renowned luxury resorts featuring bungalows perched directly on vibrant coral reefs.

Relax with world-class amenities.

The Maldives holds the record for the flattest country in the world, with its natural land elevation just 2.3 meters above sea level. With a mild climate and warm seas year-round, the archipelago forms a rich marine ecosystem with seemingly endless coral reefs. For many consecutive years, this island nation has consistently ranked as one of the most romantic honeymoon destinations in the world, but also one of the most expensive. All the high-end resorts and prestigious hotels are located on these "strings of pearls."

From Hanoi to the Maldives, you can fly with airlines from Thailand, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, etc. Finding a reasonably priced flight is one thing, but finding suitable accommodation in the Maldives is another matter entirely. If you've ever searched online for cheap hotels in the Maldives, you've wasted your time. It's safe to say that there are no cheap hotels in the Maldives. In other words, the Maldives primarily caters to high-end tourists. Tourism is the country's main source of revenue, partly because the government imposes very high taxes, so services related to tourism often have unimaginably high prices. However, from the moment you arrive at the airport, you'll feel like a VIP.

Resort prices range from $400 to $700 per night. Luxury 5-star resorts offer prices above $1000 per night, even over $2000 per night. Most remote islands offer all-inclusive transportation services by speedboat, luxury yacht, and most commonly, by seaplane. Viewing the Maldives from above always leaves the deepest impression on visitors, showcasing its unique and unparalleled beauty.

Resorts typically offer different price options. An all-inclusive package includes accommodation, transportation, three meals a day, and some complimentary island amenities. A second option is full board, which includes three meals plus accommodation, and a third is half board, which includes accommodation and breakfast. Each resort is located on a separate island, and once you arrive, you can't avoid using their services. If you consider the full board price separately, meals cost only $35 USD per day for two people. And if you choose half board, you'll find a 30ml bottle of water for $5 USD – the lowest price on the menu. Many renowned resorts from famous hotel and resort groups such as Sheraton Maldives FullMoon, Hilton Maldives, and Intercontinental are located here. All are harmoniously designed to enhance the unique beauty of the Maldives' turquoise waters. Vibrant coral reefs and schools of colorful fish are easily visible in the shallow waters right at the edge of the sandy shore. Respect for nature and eco-friendliness are subtly reflected in the architectural details of the bungalows and in every item, such as the bathtubs, beds, tables, and chairs, which are often made of coarse fabric and wood, and the roofs are thatched with coconut leaves. Staff usually wear simple white uniforms, blending in with nature. Most resorts offer all-inclusive packages and include recreational activities such as diving, water sports, spa treatments, and massages.

A luxurious vacation between sky and water.

I couldn't wait another minute when I saw from the plane the small, lush islands, surrounded by wide stretches of white sand and coral reefs in the shallow waters. The entire island resembled an oasis, distinguished by the boundary between the shallow cobalt blue waters and the deep green waters. The impressive shape of the bungalows viewed from above will probably be the most memorable moment for anyone who has ever been here. Isolated, elegant, and harmoniously integrated with the surrounding nature.

I was overwhelmed by the exquisite and luxurious beauty of the high-end resorts, harmoniously designed to blend with nature and the surrounding scenery. My room was a private bungalow, perfectly equipped in every detail, from the bathroom amenities to the bed and furnishings. There was no television or electronic devices, as the motto was a noise-free vacation. Only the gentle sound of waves lapping against the shore and the breeze rustling through the thatched roof overhead. The room had a balcony overlooking the blue sea, a lovely set of table and chairs with inviting fresh flowers, and a wind chime that swayed incessantly.

I immediately pulled out my new bikini, ready for an ocean adventure. With just a snorkel and goggles, you can admire the colorful coral reefs right near your accommodation. The smooth, flat white sand beaches captivated me even more. Lying on the soft sand, letting the breeze lull me into a short nap, before deciding to explore the island by bicycle. The tiny island only has one guesthouse. All around are pristine white sand beaches and endless coconut groves. A romantic dinner on the soft sand is ready. And in the evening, don't miss a stroll hand-in-hand on the beach or a small dinner for two! While island tourism may lack famous landmarks, museums, or local culture, it offers plenty of exciting activities: yoga by the pool, massages, sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, and dining.

Five days on a charming oasis under the shade of coconut trees, with the gentle lapping of waves right below my room, and the splashing of fish on the water's surface. The feeling of sleeping overnight on the vast blue sea is indescribable. Each bungalow is like its own private world of comfort on a secluded island in the middle of the ocean. And I love the peaceful moments in the early morning sun, I love the boundless nature that seems to have no separation between me and the sea. I love the gentle beauty of the night sea, softly caressing the sandy shores like a gentle breath. A wonderful time to rest and recharge, to be pampered after years of hard work.

Additional information:

Traveling to the Maldives does not require a visa in advance. Visas are issued at Male airport. However, to complete immigration procedures, travelers must present their Maldives hotel reservation, round-trip air tickets, and the credit card of the person who booked the tickets, who must also be traveling with them.

Maldives is a Muslim country, and narcotics and stimulants are prohibited from being brought into the country.

The off-season for tourism starts in June, but it's advisable to book flights and accommodations 1 to 2 months in advance.

Resorts often offer various packages to choose from. If you want to save money, you should opt for the full board option (including accommodation and meals). Because resorts are usually located on isolated islands, the costs are generally much higher than the actual price, so you should bring some snacks.

The "specialty" of Maldives tourism is scuba diving. Tourists can bring their own scuba diving equipment or go snorkeling. The cost of scuba diving provided by resorts is usually quite high.
