From December 29, Vietnamese airlines began selling tickets to five countries and territories, including South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Laos and Taiwan. Specifically, Vietnam Airlines will resume commercial flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok (Thailand) from January 8 with a frequency of 2 flights/week. Currently, passengers can buy tickets on the airline's website, ticket offices and official agents.
According to the request of the Civil Aviation Authority, passengers entering Vietnam must ensure epidemic prevention requirements such as having a negative nCoV test certificate, vaccination certificate/vaccine passport or Covid-19 recovery certificate.
In the last two months of 2021, Thailand welcomed more than 350,000 tourists through the quarantine-free entry program (Test and Go) for those who have been vaccinated against Covid-19.
During the upcoming Lunar New Year, the travel demand of independent tourists, especially overseas Vietnamese returning home, is very high after 2 years of disruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In December 2021, many independent Vietnamese tourists wanting to go to Thailand had to take a flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Singapore, transiting here for 12 hours before arriving in Bangkok, which was very difficult and costly.
Now, the Ho Chi Minh City - Bangkok commercial flight route reopened in January 2022 will create opportunities for trade, travel, and economic recovery after a period of interruption to control the pandemic. Before the pandemic, Vietnam was a source market for Thai tourism.
Vietnamese airlines have increased flight frequency and opened new round-trip commercial routes to connect the most attractive destinations between the two countries such as Da Nang, Hanoi, Cam Ranh, Ho Chi Minh City with Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket.
