Bach Mai Hospital lifts quarantine.
At exactly 0:00 on April 12th, Hanoi officially lifted the quarantine order at Bach Mai Hospital after 14 days of lockdown due to the Covid-19 epidemic. All hospital staff and employees are in stable health, and none have tested positive for Covid-19.
Professor Nguyen Quang Tuan, Director of Bach Mai Hospital, said that after the quarantine is lifted, the hospital will continue to operate as it did during the quarantine period until the end of April.
"The hospital needs two weeks after the quarantine to fully equip itself with technical facilities and machinery, ensuring that patients, their families, and medical staff can resume normal medical examinations and treatments by the beginning of May," Mr. Tuan said.

Also this morning, the Ministry of Health announced that there were no new Covid-19 patients in the past 12 hours. The total number of patients to date is 258, 144 have recovered, and an additional 12 people have tested negative twice, meeting the criteria for being declared recovered.
Singapore reports nearly 200 new cases.
Singapore's Ministry of Health reported 191 new cases of Covid-19 on April 11, bringing the total number of cases to 2,299. The death toll in the Southeast Asian island nation also rose to eight.
Singaporean authorities said that on April 10 alone, the country issued 2,900 warnings and 40 fines to individuals violating social distancing measures aimed at preventing the spread of the disease.

In Thailand, since the nighttime curfew was implemented on April 3rd, more than 6,500 violations have been recorded. 5,264 people have been prosecuted for violating the emergency decree, with up to 50% of them being between the ages of 20 and 35.
South Korea: Electronic wristbands to be used against those violating quarantine rules.
To more effectively prevent the spread of the disease, the South Korean government announced on April 11th that it will attach electronic bracelets to those who violate self-quarantine regulations, such as going out without notifying authorities and not answering phone calls.
For six consecutive days, South Korea has recorded around 50 new cases, a sharp decrease from the 909 new cases reported on February 29th. To date, the total number of SARS-CoV-2 infections in the country is 10,512, with 214 deaths.
Saudi Arabia extends curfew.
Saudi Arabia's King Salman has approved a decision to extend the curfew until further notice.
Saudi Arabia's curfew came into effect on March 23rd and will be enforced from 7 PM the previous evening to 6 AM the following morning.
India and Armenia continue their blockade.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to extend the nationwide lockdown for another two weeks. According to Reuters, the reason given is that India's efforts to combat the pandemic are proving effective, and lifting the lockdown too early would render all those efforts futile.
Armenia has also extended its state of emergency for another 30 days. The country has closed educational institutions, suspended all public transport, and banned foreigners from entering the country.
Iran: Number of infections surpasses 70,000.
Iran's Ministry of Health announced on April 11 that the total number of deaths from the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the country had risen to 4,357, with an additional 125 deaths recorded in the past 24 hours. Currently, the total number of new infections in Iran stands at 70,029.
The number of deaths in the US has surpassed 20,000.
The number of deaths from Covid-19 in the US surpassed 20,000 on April 11, making it the country with the most deaths in the world.
The current death toll in the US is 20,466, while the number of infections has also risen to 529,343.
Reuters reported that the US has recorded approximately 2,000 deaths per day over the past four days. Health experts warn that the number of deaths from Covid-19 could reach 200,000 by summer if people do not seriously implement measures to limit the spread of the disease.
For the first time, the US has recorded a state of disaster in all states.
On April 11, US President Donald Trump approved a disaster declaration for the state of Wyoming amid the outbreak of the acute respiratory illness Covid-19.
This move marks President Trump's 55th declaration of a disaster due to the pandemic, making it the first time in history that the United States has simultaneously declared a disaster in all states.
In other news, the Mayor of New York City announced that public schools will remain closed for the remainder of the school year. The city had previously closed public schools on March 16th to limit the spread of the virus and planned to reopen them on April 20th. However, the Mayor stated that reopening schools is not yet possible because New York is currently a COVID-19 hotspot in the United States.
Brazil: Death toll surpasses 1,000
On April 11, the Brazilian Ministry of Health announced that the number of deaths due to Covid-19 in the country had reached 1,056, an increase of 115 compared to the previous 24 hours, while the number of positive cases also increased by 1,781, bringing the total number of cases to 19,638.
The state of Sao Paulo continues to have the highest number of positive cases, followed by Rio de Janeiro and Ceara.
The Health Minister also warned that the peak of the epidemic in this South American country could come in late April or early May and would continue until at least September, while urging people to strictly adhere to social distancing measures implemented in each locality.
The number of deaths continues to rise in Europe.
Italy has the second-highest number of deaths globally during the pandemic. The number of deaths from Covid-19 there increased by 619 on April 11th, bringing the total to 19,468. The number of infections rose by 4,694 to 152,271.
The French Ministry of Health announced on the same day that the number of deaths from the disease had increased from 13,197 to 13,832 compared to the previous day. The number of infections in the country also increased by 4,785 to 129,654 cases.
The UK recorded an additional 5,233 cases and 917 deaths from Covid-19 on April 11. To date, the total number of cases in the country is 78,991 and the death toll is 9,875.
The UK Prime Minister's office said on April 11 that Boris Johnson was "recovering very well" after contracting Covid-19.
Data from April 11th shows Canada recorded an additional 1,316 new coronavirus infections and 69 deaths. The total number of infections in Canada has reached 22,559 and the number of deaths is 600.
In Türkiye, an additional 5,138 cases and 95 deaths were reported due to the disease. The country now has 52,167 confirmed cases and 1,101 deaths.
Italy: Vaccine trials are showing positive results.
The first preclinical trials of five vaccines developed by the Italian company Takis "have shown very encouraging initial results and have generated strong antibodies," said Takis director Luigi Aurisicchio.
According to Mr. Aurisicchio, all five vaccines were developed to block the main "weapon" that the SARS-CoV-2 virus uses to invade cells, which is the Spike protein. Of these five vaccines, two are currently showing positive results.
Spain records lowest number of deaths in 19 days.
Spain's daily death toll continued to fall for the third consecutive day on April 11th, reaching 510 deaths. This was also the lowest daily death toll recorded since March 23rd.
The total number of Covid-19 infections across Spain to date is 163,027.
Europe intensifies surveillance during Easter holidays.
Many European countries have stepped up monitoring of travel and urged citizens to adhere to disease prevention measures during this Easter weekend (April 12).
In Switzerland, the government has urged citizens to respect travel restrictions during the Easter holidays as the number of deaths from SARS-CoV-2 infection in the country has exceeded 1,000 and the total number of patients is close to 25,000.
From the evening of April 10th to April 13th, Lithuania imposed a travel ban between provinces, cities, and towns to limit people from visiting relatives during the Easter holidays.

The Covid-19 pandemic also caused sales of chocolate products for Easter 2020 in Belgium to drop by as much as 90%, as people were ordered to restrict their movements outside their homes, except to buy essential food or medicine.
Swedish airline and hotel staff will support hospitals.
Airline and hotel staff are being retrained to perform support roles in Swedish hospitals, as the number of deaths from Covid-19 in the country has approached 900.
This initiative provides airline staff, mostly from SAS Scandinavian Airlines (after the airline laid off 10,000 employees in March), with quality training to help support staff in hospitals and hotel staff working in nursing homes.
