In recent days, in Hanoi as well as many other provinces and cities, there have been many noble acts of philanthropists who have "shared food and clothes" with the needy. Small but extremely meaningful and practical gifts such as instant noodles, soy sauce, eggs, etc. have been given out for free to the elderly, homeless people, and lottery ticket sellers on the streets and alleys. Many places also distribute rice, masks, and meals. This is a source of encouragement and motivation to give people more strength to fight the epidemic together.

Lam Coffee Shop, known as one of the oldest and most famous coffee shops in Hanoi, is a favorite destination for tourists when coming to the capital. This place is not only famous for its delicious, rich coffee with a distinctive burnt taste, but also for its space displaying many vivid paintings of people and streets of Hanoi, self-portraits with handwriting, handwritten literary manuscripts... whose authors are names that have touched the hearts of many generations of Vietnamese people, such as famous painters Bui Xuan Phai, Duong Bich Lien, Nguyen Sang, To Ngoc Van, Le Pho... musicians, writers, poets Van Cao, To Hoai, Nguyen Hong, The Lu, Huu Loan, Phung Quan... Established in the 50s of the last century, Lam Coffee Shop is a gathering place for many artists and writers, marking many footsteps and thoughts of those who love beauty over the past half century.

Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, in front of Lam Coffee Shop at 60 Nguyen Huu Huan, Hoan Kiem District, charity gifts are placed on the table and pre-wrapped, along with a sign:“Whoever needs it, come and get it, one per person and remember to follow Covid prevention regulations.”. The words are simple, short but friendly. Every day, Lam cafe prepares 100 gifts, each gift includes 2 packs of instant noodles, 1 pork floss cake and 1 bottle of water. The expected time to deliver the gifts is until April 15, 2020.

"My family has been giving out charity gifts for a few days now, hundreds of gifts every day. In the past, I just left them there for anyone who needed them, but there were few poor people, and only people with means came to get them. So from today on, I personally stand here to give out gifts, looking at faces and asking carefully to avoid giving them to the wrong people," shared the owner of Lam coffee shop.
It can be seen that the gestures and gifts of the owner of Lam coffee shop at this time are very meaningful, warm and affectionate, just like the personality of an old Hanoian, gentle, elegant but warm.
