Located about 23 km from the center of Da Lat city, the vast green tea hills in the Cau Dat area (belonging to Xuan Truong commune, Da Lat city) are now ablaze with the vibrant pink of blooming cherry blossoms.
You don't need to travel all the way to Northwest Vietnam or far-off places like Japan to admire the cherry blossom trees displaying their first signs of spring, brightening up the lush green hills of Cau Dat.
Dalat's cherry blossoms are one of the most famous flowers, attracting a large number of tourists in the spring.
This flower has a unique charm of the misty land.
Pham Kim Nhan, a photographer currently living in Da Lat, said: "The weather in Da Lat has been beautiful from the Western New Year until now, with no signs of cold air or low pressure. These days are incredibly warm and sunny, and we expect cherry blossoms to bloom profusely in the coming days."
Kim Nhan said that many of the flowering trees have already bloomed, but the entire forest hasn't yet reached its peak. In about 1-2 weeks, the trees will be at their most uniform and beautiful bloom.
Cherry blossoms in Da Lat are characterized by their glossy bark, long serrated leaves, and a surface covered in fine hairs. Although the trunk resembles that of peach and plum trees, the flowers are single, five-petaled, like plum blossoms. Therefore, they are called "a blend of peach and plum," hence the name cherry blossom. The trees usually shed their leaves in autumn and are bare-branched in winter, before beginning to bloom when the warm spring sunshine arrives. The flowers are single, five-petaled, and the tree is at its most beautiful when the leaves have fallen, displaying a pink hue from branch to tip.

Cherry blossoms are a unique characteristic of the mountain town of Da Lat.
Dalat's cherry blossoms are a unique characteristic of this mountain town, growing only in areas above 1,000 meters above sea level, making them difficult to confuse with Japanese cherry blossoms, Northern Vietnamese peach blossoms, or the apricot blossoms of Vung Tau.
With its mild climate, cherry blossoms in Da Lat usually begin to bloom in early spring, around January to February. This flower has become a symbol of the transition from winter to spring, marking the return of warmth to the city of a thousand flowers. However, the exact blooming time depends on weather conditions and can be slightly earlier or later. In some years, the blossoms have been blooming profusely along Da Lat's streets as early as December.
Crossing the tea hills and traveling along the winding road, the scenery unfolds like something out of a fairy tale, leaving everyone in awe.
The cherry blossom season in Da Lat lasts only a few weeks, but during that brief period, the entire city is immersed in the pristine pink hues of these flowers. The cherry blossoms bloom evenly and spread from branch to branch, gracefully and enchantingly. The city seems to be clothed in a new pink "coat," attracting all eyes and filling the dreamy Da Lat with the atmosphere of spring.

Cherry blossoms dot the endless green tea hills.
Besides the Cau Dat tea plantation, there are many other places where tourists can admire the cherry blossoms. If you travel to Da Lat around mid-January, the entire city will be embraced by this "pink blanket." Among them, Tran Hung Dao Street stands out. This is not only one of the longest streets in the city but also famous as one of the best places to admire cherry blossoms. With a length of over 800 meters, both sides of the sidewalk are lined with cherry blossom trees displaying their captivating pink hues. Alternatively, visitors can choose to sit by Xuan Huong Lake, letting their minds wander amidst the petals in the romantic coolness of this dreamy land.
Kim Nhan shared: "Cherry blossoms bloom everywhere, but to see an entire forest of cherry blossoms with your own eyes, you should visit the following places: Cau Dat, Mong Dao Nguyen, Xuan Tho, Trai Mat, Tuyen Lam Lake, and the center of Da Lat will bloom last."
