About 23 km from the center of Da Lat city, the immense green tea hills in Cau Dat area (in Xuan Truong commune, Da Lat city) these days become brilliant with the pink color of blooming cherry blossoms.
No need to go all the way to the Northwest or faraway places like Japan, you can still admire the rows of cherry blossoms showing off their first spring colors, brightening up the green Cau Dat mountains.
Dalat cherry blossom is one of the famous flowers, attracting a large number of tourists in spring.
Flowers with the unique features of the foggy land
Pham Kim Nhan, a photographer currently living in Da Lat, said: "The weather in Da Lat has been beautiful since the Western New Year until now and there is no sign of cold air or low pressure. These days the sun is super warm and it is expected that cherry blossoms will be abundant in the coming days."
Kim Nhan said many flowers have shown their colors but have not yet reached the stage of blooming. In about 1-2 weeks, the trees will be in full bloom and most beautiful.
The cherry blossoms in Da Lat are characterized by shiny bark, long-toothed leaves, and a fine layer of hair on the surface. Although the trunk is similar to peach and plum, the flowers are single-petaled like apricot blossoms. That is why they are called "both peach and apricot" as cherry blossoms. The tree usually sheds its leaves in the fall and only has bare branches in the winter, before starting to bloom when the warm spring sunshine comes. The flowers are single-petaled, and the tree blooms most beautifully when it has no leaves and is pink from the branches to the top.

Cherry blossoms are a unique feature of the mountain town of Da Lat.
Dalat's cherry blossoms are a unique feature of this mountain town, growing only in areas over 1,000 m above sea level, so they are difficult to confuse with Japanese cherry blossoms, northern peach blossoms or apricot blossoms in Vung Tau.
With a temperate climate, cherry blossoms in Da Lat usually begin to bloom in early spring, around January to February. This flower becomes a symbol of the transition from winter to spring, marking the return of the warm season in the city of thousands of flowers. However, the blooming time depends on weather conditions, it can be a little earlier or later. There are years when the flowers are brilliant all over the streets of Da Lat as early as December.
Crossing the tea hills, walking along the winding road, the scenery appears like a fairyland, making everyone stunned.
The cherry blossom season in Da Lat lasts only a few weeks, but in that short period of time, the whole city is immersed in the pure pink color of this flower. The cherry blossoms bloom evenly and spread from branch to top, graceful and strangely enchanting. The city seems to be wearing a new pink "shirt", attracting all eyes and making the spring atmosphere fill the dreamy Da Lat.

Cherry blossoms dot the green tea hills.
In addition to Cau Dat tea hill, there are many other places for visitors to admire the cherry blossoms. If you travel to Da Lat in mid-January, you will be embraced by the whole city in this "cotton blanket" full of pink. Among them, Tran Hung Dao Street is a highlight. This is not only one of the longest streets in the city but also famous as the best place to see cherry blossoms. With a length of more than 800 m, both sides of the sidewalk are rows of cherry blossoms showing off their charming pink color. Or visitors can also choose to sit on the banks of Xuan Huong Lake, letting their souls follow the petals in the romantic cold of this dreamy land.
