Snowfall in South Korea typically occurs around the end of November or the beginning of December. For the people there, the first snowfall is not simply a weather phenomenon but also holds significant spiritual meaning. Many believe that the first snowfall is a time when Koreans pray, hoping their wishes will come true.

Having lived and worked in South Korea for 5 years, Pham Trong Nghia (33 years old, from Quang Ngai) has fallen in love with the beauty of the land of kimchi from summer to winter: “In South Korea, all four seasons are beautiful, but winter always has its own unique characteristics. As a Vietnamese person who has never seen snow before, I am very excited when I go to South Korea on snowy days. Therefore, whenever it snows and I have free time, I will go take pictures; I can't stay at home because I'm so eager.”

Besides admiring the enchanting scenery of South Korea in winter, Trong Nghia also harbored the intention of capturing moments in all the places he visited. To "hunt" for the perfect snow photos, the young man traveled to many famous landmarks such as Damyang Metasequoia, Naejangsan National Park, Gunsan, Deokyusan Mountain, Daegwallyeong Sheep Hill, Inje Birch Hill in Gangwon, Mudeungsan Mountain in Gwangju…

Large cities, already renowned for their blend of modernity and tradition, become even more enchanting when their streets are covered in pristine white snow. Peaceful rural areas also possess a unique beauty when snow blankets every road. In particular, the sight of mountains, valleys, and pine forests creates a breathtaking landscape that visitors will never forget.

The snowfall in South Korea creates a breathtaking scene, with soft snow blanketing rooftops and meadows. The gentle light reflected from the snow enhances the dreamy beauty of the landscape. Roads leading into the countryside or mountains become mystical and poetic under the white snow. This is truly a wonderful moment to immerse yourself in the tranquility and pristine beauty of winter in South Korea.

One of the places that left the most memorable impressions on Trong Nghia during his "dream of white snow" adventure was Deokyusan Mountain. Deokyusan Mountain, also known as Deokyu Mountain, is one of the highest mountains in South Korea. This mountain is not only a popular tourist destination with stunning natural beauty but also attracts mountaineers and visitors seeking the tranquil and majestic atmosphere of the Korean mountains.

When winter arrives, Mount Deokyusan is covered in white snow, creating a magnificent and breathtaking scene. The snowfall on Mount Deokyusan transforms the green forests under the snow canopy, a unique sight only seen in winter that everyone longs to experience.

According to Trong Nghia, he and his friend arrived at Deokyusan Mountain the previous afternoon but couldn't take any good photos due to the low snowfall. That evening, they decided to rent a room and were determined to conquer the snow-covered mountain the next day. However, early the next morning, Deokyusan Mountain experienced a major snowstorm with temperatures around -25 degrees Celsius. Despite being well-equipped with protective gear, Trong Nghia still suffered frostbite due to the extremely harsh weather. The snowstorm was so intense that he had to cling to a tree trunk to maintain his balance and avoid being blown over by the wind.

“Around 12 o'clock, the sky was still foggy, gloomy, and windy, so I decided to descend the mountain. However, just 15 minutes after deciding to go down, the sun started shining and the clouds dispersed. Within the next half hour, I had taken many beautiful photos of Deokyusan Mountain, both covered in white snow and bathed in gentle sunshine. This grueling trip due to the extremely cold weather is something I will always remember,” Trong Nghia confided.

In South Korea, temperatures during snowfall are often below freezing. During the cold winter months, temperatures typically range from -10°C to 0°C, and can be even lower in mountainous regions. This drop in temperature allows for heavy snowfall, making the winter landscape even more picturesque and romantic.

To fully enjoy the "winter love song" of Korea, Trong Nghia advises tourists to prepare thoroughly and meticulously, especially regarding clothing. To make your trip more complete and memorable, warm clothing is essential due to the unique weather conditions. Jackets should be made from leather, fur, wool, cotton, or down to retain body heat. Tourists should also purchase thermal underwear and waterproof/windproof jackets to protect against snow. Essential accessories include scarves, gloves, socks, and face masks. For those who enjoy snow-covered mountains, prepare spiked shoes and anti-slip walking sticks.
