Destinations in the northern mountainous region such as Ha Giang, Lao Cai... have seen a good increase in the number of visitors. Meanwhile, the southern island destinations, although not as busy, still recorded an average room occupancy rate of about 60 - 90%, depending on the hotel segment.

One of the destinations that recorded a breakthrough growth during the recent holiday was Ha Giang.
On the occasion of New Year, convoys of cars from all over the country flocked to the rocky plateau for sightseeing. Famous tourist destinations such as Quan Ba Twin Mountains, Vuong's mansion, Lung Cu National Flagpole, Ma Pi Leng Pass, and Nho Que Hydroelectric Reservoir were almost full of visitors.
Speaking with Lao Dong, Ms. Trieu Thi Tinh - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Giang province, said that on the occasion of New Year's Eve, the locality welcomed a large number of domestic and foreign tourists.
The number of visitors to Ha Giang during the New Year 2024 (from December 30, 2023 to January 1, 2024) will reach over 89,000, of which 6,100 will be foreign visitors. Tourism revenue during this period will reach over VND220 billion.
Lao Cai Department of Tourism said that it is estimated that the locality will welcome about 155,600 tourists during the holiday, an increase of 27% over the same period in 2023. Total revenue from tourists during this time will reach about 467 billion VND, an increase of 9% over the same period in 2023 (429 billion VND); of which, total revenue from international visitors will reach 86 billion VND.
The number of visitors is mainly concentrated in key tourist areas such as Sa Pa with about 85,400 visitors, Lao Cai city welcomed about 42,900 visitors, Bac Ha district welcomed about 31,000 visitors. Hotel room occupancy rate in the whole province reached about 75%, in Sa Pa alone reached about 90 - 95%.
Responding to Lao Dong, Mr. Bui Xuan Truong - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hoa Binh said that during the 3-day New Year holiday in 2024, Hoa Binh tourism welcomed more than 76,000 visitors, an increase of 82% over the same period last year.
Of which, 5,773 international visitors and nearly 71,000 domestic visitors were welcomed. Total tourism revenue reached about 60 billion VND, an increase of 53.8% over the same period in 2023.
Son La tourism industry also welcomed 217,000 visitors, with estimated revenue reaching 250 billion VND during the recent holiday.
During the three-day holiday, an estimated 402,000 tourists visited Hanoi, up 65% over the same period last year, according to the Hanoi Department of Tourism. Specifically, international visitors were estimated at 72,000, up 2.1 times, and domestic visitors were estimated at 330,000, up 59%.
Total revenue from tourists is estimated at nearly 1.5 trillion VND, up 73% over the same period in 2023. Average room occupancy rate in the hotel sector is estimated at about 60%, up 7.8% over the same period in 2023.

The New Year holiday is the peak inbound season, so some northern coastal destinations such as Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh) and Lan Ha Bay (Hai Phong) are full of cruise ship passengers during this time. According to data from online travel companies and platforms, cruise ships on these bays are almost fully booked early, 85% of which are international visitors.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Phuc, during the 3-day holiday (from December 30, 2023 to January 1, 2024), the whole province is estimated to welcome nearly 90,000 visitors, an increase of 5% compared to 2023. Of which, international visitors are estimated at 3,400; domestic visitors are estimated at 85,600; overnight guests are estimated at 35,600. Revenue is estimated at 45 billion VND, an increase of 12% compared to 2023.
Mr. Dang Hoang Lam, Secretary of the Tam Dao Town Party Committee, said that the number of tourists coming to Tam Dao during the New Year holiday reached about 20,000, with nearly 100% of the guests staying overnight, and all resorts and hotels had pre-booked guests.

As for Ninh Binh, the whole province welcomed over 312,000 tourists, including nearly 30,000 international tourists; revenue reached 420 billion VND, an increase of 10.52% compared to 2023.

In particular, during this year's New Year holiday, nighttime tourist attractions in Ninh Binh such as Bai Dinh Pagoda, Hoa Lu Ancient Town, Thung Nham Bird Garden, Dinh Tien Hoang De Square... welcomed nearly 120,000 visitors at night.

Da Nang recorded a room occupancy rate of over 60% for 3-4 star hotels, and about 40-50% for 5 star hotels. Domestic visitors are mainly tourists from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring Central provinces such as Quang Nam, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Ngai, etc. International visitors are mainly from Korea, Taiwan (China), Japan, India, Southeast Asia (Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines...).
The number of visitors and tourists staying in Quang Nam is estimated at 103,000 (up 130% over the same period last year). Of which, the number of international visitors overwhelming the domestic market, with 91,000 international visitors. Due to unfavorable weather, some tourist areas and spots such as Cu Lao Cham and Phu Ninh Lake Eco-tourism Area received few visitors.
The occupancy rate of 4-5 star hotels is about 80-90% in areas near and within the old quarter, while the occupancy rate of accommodation facilities far from the city center and near the beach is not high.

The Tourism Management Department - Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province said that from December 30, 2023 to January 1, 2024, the total number of tourists visiting and relaxing in the locality is estimated at more than 160,000, an increase of about 33% over the same period in 2023. This is a positive signal for Lam Dong tourism activities in 2024.
There will be approximately 140,000 visitors staying in Lam Dong during the 2024 New Year, including 5,000 international visitors. Da Lat City alone is estimated to have more than 120,000 visitors, including 4,900 international visitors. Luxury hotels from 3 to 5 stars serve at an occupancy rate of 85 to 90%; other types serve at an occupancy rate of approximately 75%.
The total number of tourists coming to Dak Nong during the New Year holiday is estimated at about 20,900 (an increase of 20.1% compared to the New Year holiday in 2023).
Of which, the number of guests staying at the hotel reached about 3,500 and the number of visitors to tourist areas and entertainment and experience areas reached about 17,400. Total revenue from tourism activities during the holiday is estimated at 9 billion VND.
According to Ms. Khuc Thi Thoi, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, to attract tourists, many tourist attractions and entertainment spots in Dak Nong province have organized many fun and entertainment activities.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, on the occasion of New Year 2024, international visitors to Ho Chi Minh City are estimated to reach about 46,528 arrivals, an increase of 86.1% compared to the figure of 25,000 arrivals in the same period in 2023.
Tourism revenue is estimated at about VND 6,400 billion, up 7.7% over the same period in 2023. Travel agencies said that the number of foreign tourists coming to Ho Chi Minh City has increased, especially cruise passengers - high-end tourists from Europe, America, Australia, Japan... because there are not many New Year holidays and it is also close to Lunar New Year.
At the same time, airfare prices are high, so most visitors choose to travel within the city with their families, return to their hometowns, or go to the city's eco-tourism areas to relax with family and friends.
Some other beach destinations such as Vung Tau, Phan Thiet, Nha Trang recorded average room occupancy rates of about 30% to 60%.
Mr. Bui Quoc Thai - Director of Kien Giang Department of Tourism, said that the locality welcomed more than 120,700 visitors, of which Phu Quoc welcomed more than 88,000. The number of international visitors is estimated to be nearly 15,500 (Phu Quoc accounts for more than 15,000), visitors staying in the area are more than 55,000 (Phu Quoc accounts for more than 35,000).
Room occupancy rate at tourist accommodation establishments is about 63%, total tourism revenue reaches 369 billion VND. Most visitors flock to the south and north of the island to participate in activities to celebrate the new year 2024, so the center of Phu Quoc city receives fewer visitors, room occupancy rate is only about 50%.
After a period of time, Phu Quoc received many mixed opinions about the quality, prices of services, high airfares... the locality has organized many activities to stimulate demand, rectify and tighten tourism management.
