Zoe Saldana is a famous American film actress known for iconic roles such as Neytiri in Avatar and Nyota Uhura in Star Trek. Besides her passion for acting, Saldana is also avid traveler. Listen to her travel experiences in an interview with a reporter from Condé Nast Traveller magazine (UK).

Reporter: Hello Zoe Saldana. It seems like you've just been somewhere?

Yes, I just visited New York, the city where I lived as a child for 10 years before moving to the Dominican Republic, and then returning to New York when I was 16. I live in Los Angeles now, but I always miss New York. I remember Chinatown, with its delicious food. My grandmother still lives in New York, and I often take her to The Carlyle bar for champagne.

Saldana, you've traveled to many places around the world. In your opinion, where is the most romantic place?

I like to book a hotel room in Paris overlooking the Seine. It's wonderful; nothing is more romantic or relaxing there. I could spend the whole day gazing at the Seine. I really like the Four Seasons George V and Le Pavillon de la Reine on the Marais. However, if I'm traveling with family, I'll rent an apartment on Ile Saint-Louis or Ile de la Cité. There, I feel like I'm living in my beloved Los Angeles home.

Which country do you enjoy traveling to the most?

Japan. As a Latino, I'm not an introvert, but I really enjoy Japanese culture. Japanese people are very respectful of their colleagues and elders. Some members of my family are Dominican of Japanese descent, and I'm influenced by the culture of the Land of the Rising Sun. And just like New York, Tokyo never sleeps, so going there always feels relaxing for me.

So, which city have you always wanted to visit?

Paris, always and forever. I first went there when I was 20 years old, and after all these years, it remains the city I want to visit in the world. It's strange, but from the first time I arrived, I felt a sense of familiarity with Paris. Now, I have some amazing friends here. I could wander the streets all night until sunrise, get lost, eat, drink, and chat with anyone I meet. Every time I visit Paris, I feel both familiar and yet new and exciting.

Where in the world do you feel happiest?

Italy. My husband, Marco, is from Verona, grew up by Lake Garda, and studied in Milan. Milan is my favorite city in Italy. As a New Yorker, I love the industrial development, and that's one of the reasons I like Milan. When we're not in Italy, my family and I often choose some Caribbean destinations to travel to. I think it's important for our children to have a solid understanding of the culture and way of life. They pay close attention to how we talk, how we eat, how we dance, and how we participate in social activities.

Tell us about a wonderful place you've been to?

There's a fantastic little restaurant in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, called Paris Paul. It's small and friendly, and the traditional cooking is excellent. They have stir-fried duck, roast lamb, and some red wine. Those are things I would never eat when I'm in Los Angeles, but in Paris, those are the flavors I crave.

Thank you for sharing such interesting information!
