The cast seems strange but is definitely familiar from BEN-HUR

19/08/2016

BEN-HUR is one of the exciting movies to end this summer movie season. It has an interesting cast but when you look deeper, the appearance of these actors in different movies will surely surprise and excite the audience.

Jack Huston

Before coming to BEN-HUR, Jack Huston was famous for his role as gangster Richard Harrow in the hit HBO series - Boardwalk Empire (2010), but few people know that before that, he also appeared in the hit film adaptation of the fantasy novel for girls Twilight. In Twilight, specifically the movie Esclipe (2010), Jack Huston played Roy King II - husband of vampire Rosalie Hale when she was still human. He and his friends raped Rosaline and left her to die. Later, when she became a vampire, the first person Rosalie wanted to kill was Roy King II.

In 2013, Jack Huston appeared in the comedy-musical American Hustle. American Hustle received many Golden Globe and Oscar nominations this year. In the film, Jack Huston played Pete Musane, the lover of Rosalyn Rosenfeld (played by Jennifer Lawrence).

In 2015, Jack Huston had a golden opportunity to portray the fiery yet gentle Ira and his wife, whose personality was the opposite, in the romantic film The Longest Ride (2015). This couple was so interesting that they overshadowed the male and female lead actors played by Scott Eastwood and Britt Robertson.

Earlier this year, Jack Huston returned as the rogue officer George Wickham in Pride and Prejudice and Zombie, which was released on Valentine's Day.

This summer, he appeared in the hit movie BEN-HUR. With experience honed through different roles and different personalities, Jack has the ability and courage to play the male lead Judah Ben-Hur in this work.

Nazanin Boniadi

Playing the female lead Esther and standing side by side with the hero Ben-Hur is the beautiful actress with the sweet name Nazanin Boniadi. For the audience who were fascinated by the TV series How I Met Your Mother, it is not difficult to recognize Nazanin Boniadi as Nora - "front" of Barney Stingson before he realized that the person he loved was Robin.

The actress has also appeared in many other TV series, typically Homeland in season 3 as CGI analyst Fara Sherazi. This character was quite popular and appeared until season 4.

Surprisingly, Nazanin Boniadi appeared in Iron Man (2008). She played a female reporter reporting on the battle between Iron Man and the Ten Rings.

Esther of BEN-HUR is an interesting character. Not the type of bland and flower-shaped heroine, Esther is compassionate but also very strong and resilient. She is the one who brings warmth and gentleness to Ben-Hur but is also very tough on him when he is blinded by revenge.

Ayelet Zurer

Naomi Ben-Hur, Judah Ben-Hur's mother, is played by actress Ayelet Zurer. She was also the mother of another famous character: Superman in Man Of Steel (2013).

Ayelet Zurer in the movie Ben-Hur

Ayelet Zurer collaborated with actor Tom Hanks in the blockbuster Angel and Demon (2009), adapted from the novel of the same name by writer Dan Brown. She played the talented and hot Dr. Vittoria Vetra. In the film, Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) and Vittoria Vetra (Ayelet Zurer) must race against time to prevent the Killer from executing four Cardinals and prevent the anti-matter bomb stolen by the Illuminati from exploding.

Sofia Black-D'Elia

Sofia Black-D'Elia plays Tirzah Ben-Hur, the sister of Judah Ben-Hur.

This is a new and quite bright factor in Hollywood. She is currently getting a lot of attention from filmmakers. Sofia Black-D'Elia appeared in season 6 of Gossip Girl as Natasha "Sage" Spence, a smart and attractive girl.

Besides BEN-HUR, in 2016, Sofia Black-D'Elia also appeared in the horror film Viral, playing Emma Drakeford, a younger sister who and her older sister escaped from the "zombies" due to the outbreak of a parasitic virus in the human brain. However, her older sister was suddenly infected, causing Emma to panic.

Rodrigo Santoro

In the 1959 film, Jesus' face was not shown, but in the 2016 film, he was. This role was played by the actor Rodrigo Santoro. Rodrigo Santoro has a rather large portfolio of roles. In 2003, he was the sweet and lovable Karl in the hit romantic film Love Actually.

In 2006, he surprised all fans when he became the God King Xerxes in the epic blockbuster 300. Evil, powerful and monstrous are the things that the audience will always remember about this villain.

After appearing in various films in her native Brazil, she returned to Hollywood in 2015 with the film Focus alongside Will Smith and Margot Robbie.

The weatheredness is evident on Rodrigo Santoro's face as he plays Jesus in Ben-Hur

Toby Kebbell

Toby Kebbell is a familiar face to movie fans, this actor has a knack for blockbusters, especially roles with the support of CGI technology. Some examples include:

In BEN-HUR, Toby Kebbell plays the villain Messala. Messala was Ben-Hur's childhood friend and foster brother, who later became a Roman officer and betrayed him. The Chariot race between Ben-Hur and Messala is one of the scenes that the audience had to open their eyes, ears and hearts to watch.

Morgan Freeman

Morgan Freeman is definitely the brightest name in this cast. Although he became famous quite late (50 years old), Morgan Freeman quickly became a "treasure" of the silver screen. He is the second African-American artist (after Sidney Poitier in 1992) to receive the American Film Institute's Lifetime Achievement Award.

With his mysterious face and dignified demeanor, Morgan Freeman was invited to play God Almighty twice (Bruce Almighty, Evan Almighty). He is also the first black God on screen.

Bored with being God, Morgan Freeman switched to being Christian Bale's Batman advisor Lucius Fox in the three Batman films directed by Christopher Nolan. He also played the powerful vice president in London Has Fallen or the villain, who turned out to be the hero in the two films Now You See Me.

At the age of 79, the actor is still busy appearing in many different film projects. In the blockbuster BEN-HUR, Morgan Freeman will play the nobleman Ilderim, who trains Ben-Hur to become a talented charioteer to take revenge on Messala.

BEN-HUR is a legendary mythological film about the character of the same name: Juda Ben-Hur. Originally a nobleman, Ben-Hur was harmed by his adopted brother Messala and exiled for 5 years. Luckily rescued, Ben-Hur will return to take revenge on Messala in the fierce Chariot race.

The film's script will not be based on the famous 1959 film, but will be reworked based on the original literary work Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ by writer - Colonel Lew Wallace, so there will be some changes in the film's structure. Maintaining the old spirit, promoting the best but also boldly innovating, BEN-HUR 2016 promises to continue the success of the old version, becoming one of the epic films worth watching this year.

BEN-HUR opens in Vietnam from August 19, 2016.
