On the evening of April 6th, the vast square in front of the Independence Palace became a special cultural hub, attracting hundreds of city residents, mostly enthusiastic young people eager to experience something new. Everyone flocked there to enjoy the unique 3D mapping light show, an event held for the first time at this historic landmark.
This event commemorates the 50th anniversary of the liberation of South Vietnam and the reunification of the country.
The event, officially titled "The Epic of Peace," is a meaningful activity marking the beginning of a series of significant events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025). With meticulous planning and dedication, "The Epic of Peace" showcases a delicate blend of solemn political elements and emotionally charged artistic language, aiming to vividly and authentically recreate the 21-year journey of arduous but glorious resistance of our nation. The program not only presents a tragic epic depicting sacrifices and losses, but also a triumphant song celebrating the great victory, culminating in the Spring 1975 General Offensive and Uprising – the most brilliant and glorious musical chapter in Vietnam's history of nation-building and national defense.
But at the same time, it's also an opportunity for people, especially young people, to better understand the sacrifices of previous generations.
Audiences at the event experienced concise yet insightful documentary films skillfully interwoven with many unique and captivating artistic performances. The diversity of forms of expression evoked a range of emotions, from the solemnity of chamber music and the fluidity of contemporary dance to the realism of live performances, and the breathtaking spectacle of 3D mapping, lasers, smoke, fire, and fireworks, along with vibrant and colorful graphic imagery.

All these elements blended perfectly, contributing to the artistic representation and transformation of dry historical information, making stories and memories of a difficult but heroic period in the nation's history more relatable, understandable, and accessible to a wide audience, especially the younger generation – the future owners of the country. The program left a deep impression on viewers and strongly contributed to arousing and honoring the fervent patriotism and profound pride in the nation's glorious history.
Many young people lined up to enjoy the program.

This also marks the first time that modern and advanced performance technologies such as 3D Mapping, Laser Show, and immersive surround sound systems have been creatively applied to tell historical stories in a more visual and emotionally rich way than ever before. Historic battles that marked turning points, heartfelt letters from the battlefield, images of soldiers returning in triumphant joy, and the moment the national flag proudly flew over the Independence Palace… all will be vividly and authentically recreated right on the very structure that witnessed this momentous historical moment, marking the end of the war and the reunification of the country.

The powerful allure of cutting-edge visual technology, majestic music, and meaningful historical themes has attracted a large number of young people to "hunt" for photos, shoot videos, and share their unique experiences on social media. Images of the Independence Palace "dyed" in vibrant red, yellow, and blue hues, or familiar historical symbols, are spreading rapidly online as a gentle yet profound reminder of the sacred value of peace and the immense sacrifices made by previous generations so that we can enjoy the beautiful life we have today.
"Once every 50 years," Independence Palace, once a historical witness, has become a vibrant stage where the nation's heroic memories are recreated with emotion and artistry. And perhaps, even just standing outside the gates, each person can feel the profound vibrations, the echoes of a glorious historical period, stirring in their hearts pride and a sense of responsibility for the country's future.
