For the first time, Ho Chi Minh City's Tourism Week was held in the last week of 2021, amidst the city's socio-economic recovery while safely adapting to the Covid-19 pandemic. The event revolved around showcasing the city's prominent and distinctive tourist destinations, including photo exhibitions, bicycle parades and Hop on Hop off events, culinary exploration, and street art (Street Show) – a blend of contemporary world art and traditional music – held at the Central Post Office from December 24th to 31st.
The "My Beloved City" Tourism Week was held for the first time in Ho Chi Minh City.
Ms. Phan Thi Thang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, said: "The week-long event is organized in the festive atmosphere of the year-end season, aiming to promote the image, land, people, cultural identity, tourism services, and distinctive cuisine of Ho Chi Minh City. This is also considered a key driver to increase the attractiveness of the destination."
Tourists experience cycling to explore the heart of Ho Chi Minh City right after the launch ceremony of the Tourism Week on the morning of December 24th.
In addition, the Tourism Week also features hundreds of promotional programs and discounts of up to 60% on tourism products and services at the end of the year, including travel services, hotels, and sightseeing and entertainment activities. Participating in the event, tourists can visit, explore, and experience new and attractive destinations, including those newly included in tours and tourism products in the city center (City tour) and from the center towards the Northwest (focusing on Cu Chi and Hoc Mon districts), East (focusing on Thu Duc City), Southeast (focusing on Nha Be and Can Gio), and South (focusing on Binh Chanh district).
Many promotional programs and special offers on tourism products and services are introduced during this time of year.
Accompanying and promoting the activities of Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week - My Beloved City are famous and well-known ambassadors loved by young people and the public, such as fashionista Chau Bui, businessman Phillip Nguyen, singer Cam Van's family, photographer and travel blogger Quy Coc Tu, and runner-up Phuong An. They will participate in a series of events to inspire tourism and exploration of scenic spots in Ho Chi Minh City.
The Ambassadors for Tourism Week are selected from reputable individuals who are dedicated to promoting and showcasing the beauty of the city's destinations.
Along with the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival 2021, Tourism Week is expected to be a springboard for the strong recovery and development of Ho Chi Minh City's tourism industry and Vietnamese tourism in 2022. At the same time, the city government also aims to make Tourism Week an annual event, eagerly anticipated by both locals and tourists visiting the city.
