Located at the foot of the Ngoc Linh mountain range, Tak Po peak belongs to Tra Tap commune, Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam province. From Tak Po, one can see vast lakes and seas of clouds in the early morning, even though it is not as high as Hai Van Pass (1,500 m) or Bach Ma mountain range (1,600 m). This is also the school that went viral on social media on September 5, 2019, with its opening ceremony attended by two teachers and 43 students.

Tran Trung Hieu (33 years old, a freelance photographer in Hoi An) recently returned from a cloud-hunting camping trip to Tak Po and said: “A few years ago, I also planned to go to the top of Tak Po but didn't have the chance. Recently, I saw many friends sharing beautiful cloud-hunting photos, so I decided to experience it myself. I've traveled to many other places, so I definitely couldn't miss a cloud-hunting spot right in Quang Nam, only 170 km from where I live.”
To be able to wake up early to chase the clouds and watch the sunrise, Trung Hieu and other members decided to spend two days and one night camping at Tak Po. Departing from Hoi An at 6 am, the group traveled 170 km, then hiked about 100 meters up the mountain to reach the campsite.

Here, a breathtaking panorama of pristine nature unfolds, captivating the heart. Upon reaching the mountaintop, one can freely gaze upon the scenery. Everything seems to shrink in size, all that remains is the deep green of the undulating hills and the azure blue of the vast sky, seemingly merging into one. This tranquil haven amidst the boundless wilderness is the ideal place to enjoy the fresh air of the highlands.
Tak Po has become a new tourist destination for adventure enthusiasts, despite the many challenges the highlands still face. With its pristine beauty, largely untouched by human intervention, this cloud-watching spot opens up from an altitude of over a thousand meters above sea level.

According to Trung Hieu, he woke up early before sunrise to experience cloud hunting at the legendary mountain peak. What could be more wonderful than witnessing a sea of white, ethereal clouds? The fluffy clouds resembled a white silk ribbon draped across the sky. The scenery before him was like a fairy tale world with white clouds, golden sunshine, and majestic, poetic mountains and forests.
Having previously taken many cloud-hunting trips in the mountains of Northwest Vietnam, Trung Hieu was quite surprised to witness a sea of clouds right in his hometown of Quang Nam. Early in the morning, he was fortunate enough to see the sunrise over a sea of white clouds stretching across the sky. The beauty of the clouds, the morning sunlight, the rustling of the forest breeze, and the chirping of birds seemed to welcome a peaceful new day. Enjoying this gentle, enchanting feeling helps one forget the worries of life and recharge with positive energy for a joyful new day.

Regarding the best time to go cloud hunting in Tak Po, Trung Hieu suggests that young people should visit from July to September. Especially on days when there was a thunderstorm the previous afternoon, and the water vapor only condenses the next day, the chances of successfully hunting for clouds are very high.
To prepare for a camping trip to watch the sunrise and clouds in Tak Po, Trung Hieu shared: “There are no tent rental services in Tak Po, so you need to bring all the necessary equipment. That includes a tent, cooking supplies, food, water, and a tarp to protect against afternoon rain. Besides that, you can prepare some candy to share with the children here.”
