“The outside world has so much to experience and explore. Vietnam is no exception; stretching across the country, every place offers unique scenic spots and amazing experiences,” shared Mr. Le Luu Dung (CEO and Founder of Jungle Boss Travel Company), which specializes in organizing tours exploring caves and primeval forests in the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, a World Natural Heritage site, and surrounding areas.

Adventure tourism is a popular trend today, especially among young people. It includes adventurous activities, exploring new and unique destinations, and challenging oneself to push one's limits.

Adventure tourism is a popular trend nowadays, especially among young people.

Born and raised in the impoverished coastal village of Trieu Phong (Quang Tri province), Le Luu Dung became involved with a wildlife conservation organization at Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in 2008. There, he discovered his passion for adventure tourism and cave exploration. Quang Binh was his chosen location for developing adventure tourism, as it is considered one of the few national parks in the world possessing a system of hundreds of large and small caves.

“Jungle Boss is not only my brainchild that fulfills my passion for exploration, but it also creates opportunities for adventurous souls and brings people closer to nature. Thanks to Jungle Boss, I can also help create jobs for local people and develop the regional economy,” the founder of Jungle Boss revealed.

Places to "reconnect with nature"

When it comes to cave exploration, Vietnam also has many unique destinations for tourists. Aiming to provide different experiences, each location offers a unique adventure with varying levels of difficulty, from easy to challenging.

Hang Pygmy

Pygmy Cave, also known as En Ruc Ca Roong Cave, was discovered by British Royal Cave experts in 1997. Pygmy Cave is the fourth largest cave in the world, reaching a height and width of up to 100 meters.

Pygmy Cave, also known as En Ruc Ca Roong Cave.

According to cave experts, upon their first visit to Pygmy Cave in 1997, they were overwhelmed by its grandeur. Inside the cave, they found a small stilt house belonging to the Arem ethnic group. Pygmy Cave is also home to millions of swallows, a primary food source for the Arem people in the past. Therefore, the cave is known locally as the Swallow Cave, and because it is inhabited by the Ruc Ca Roong ethnic group, it is also called the Ruc Ca Roong Swallow Cave.

Cave experts felt humanity was too small in the face of majestic nature, so they named the cave Pygmy. Pygmy in Vietnamese means "small." Today, Pygmy Cave has become a very popular destination for adventurous exploration, and the entrance to Pygmy Cave is one of the most beautiful campsites on the planet.

Tiger Cave

Tiger Cave was discovered in 1997 during a cave exploration by the British Royal Cave Society. The name Tiger Cave was coined when members of the exploration team discovered tiger footprints inside the cave.

This is one of the large caves located within the magnificent cave system of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park. Here, visitors can admire the cave's grandeur with its three main entrances and hundreds of ancient trees surrounding the cave mouths, all creating an incredibly beautiful, pristine natural landscape bestowed by nature. Exploring the summit of the Kong Sinkhole is perhaps the most challenging adventure tour in Vietnam today, featuring a 100-meter zipline experience. The challenge requires visitors to hike for hours through narrow trails amidst the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, navigating steep inclines and declines. The journey offers a fantastic combination of experiences such as hiking through the primeval forest, climbing rocks, swimming in dark caves, camping inside caves, and especially, ziplining to explore the caves.

“At Kong Sinkhole, you’ll get to experience rappelling 100 meters down into the sinkhole, having lunch halfway up the cliff—what my colleagues and I, and our regular customers, call the ‘million-dollar lunch view’—and camping and stargazing inside the sinkhole…,” shared Mr. Le Luu Dung.
