Situated deep in a valley, Khau Lan Waterfall offers a picturesque landscape that is both gentle and poetic, yet majestic and mysterious.
The journey to conquer the "forgotten location"
During a visit to Khau Lan Waterfall, San Tai Chi (travel blogger Ta Ba Lo) - a Bo Y ethnic minority born and raised in Ha Giang - shared: “I especially love wild nature and lesser-known destinations. By chance, a friend of mine discovered this pristine location, and we planned to conquer Khau Lan Waterfall. Although this is my hometown, it wasn't until this year that I had the opportunity to conquer this beautiful waterfall.”
Reaching the waterfall isn't too difficult: It's about 10 km from National Highway 4C (near the market in Quyet Tien commune), 3 km from the car parking area, and 1 km from the motorbike parking area. It involves trekking through lush green forests, and the return trip requires a bit of effort climbing uphill.
To reach Khau Lan Waterfall, travel blogger Ta Ba Lo started his journey from Ha Giang City by motorbike, traveling over 40 km to the center of Quyet Tien commune, Quan Ba district, and then another 10 km to the trekking point down to the waterfall. The waterfall is nestled in the Khau Lan valley, surrounded by lush green tropical forests.
The trekking path to Khau Lan Waterfall is just over 1 km long, and the trail has been cleared and stepped, making it very easy to move. Visitors won't have to exert too much effort if they enjoy physical activity. However, some difficulties did arise during the journey. Sân Tài Chí shared: "Khau Lan Waterfall isn't on Google Maps, so you'll have to frequently ask locals for directions if you don't have a porter to avoid getting lost."
The forest provides plenty of shade, so you can rest and recharge at any point.
The scenery is picturesque, the mountains and rivers are poetic.
Khau Lan Waterfall is not immediately apparent or overwhelming to tourists; it is hidden behind a dense forest where ancient trees thrive. Because it has not been extensively developed for tourism, Khau Lan Waterfall retains its pristine natural beauty.
The waterfall is very large, majestic, and exceptionally clean, with clear blue water because it's the headwaters flowing from a cave inside the mountain. At the foot of the waterfall is a deep and wide pool where you can swim.
Upon arriving, travel blogger Ta Ba Lo was surprised to witness the majestic and pristine beauty of the waterfall. In particular, the size and volume of the water flow will surely impress visitors. "This is the most beautiful waterfall I've ever conquered in Ha Giang. What I like most about this waterfall is the cleanliness of the water flowing down from the high cliff; the water is almost crystal clear all year round," a local said.
The sound of the cascading waterfall, the rustling of the trees and plants, awakens all the senses; the call of nature pours into the listener's ears, evoking wonderful, indescribable emotions. At Khau Lan Waterfall, all worries and fatigue disappear, and visitors feel as if they are returning to moments of relaxation and the most peaceful days.
Take a moment to relax and enjoy the beauty of the waterfall.
Visitors to Khau Lan Waterfall will experience mysterious wonders and breathtaking, picturesque beauty.
The natural landscape at the foot of the waterfall seems to shrink amidst the vast expanse. A log in the middle of the falls creates a unique scene, and at its base lies a deep pool of water. Travel blogger Ta Ba Lo particularly enjoyed the experience of jumping and swimming in the waterfall. Looking further out, thousands of ancient trees rustle in the breeze. Visitors to Khau Lan Waterfall will experience its mysterious beauty and breathtaking scenery, like a painting.
According to travel blogger Ta Ba Lo, Khau Lan Waterfall is crystal clear all year round; however, it is usually quite cold in Ha Giang at the end of the year, so for a cool experience and to enjoy a refreshing swim, you should visit in the summer or early autumn, from June to October.
