Marine pollution from plastic waste has always been a concern of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Quang Ngai. Every day, hundreds of tons of plastic waste float on the sea due to the lack of awareness of some residents and tourists, and of which 7-8% is plastic waste.

In the coming period of 2021-2025, Quang Ngai sets a goal of reducing 50% of that waste, and at the same time collecting 50% of lost or discarded fishing gear.

In addition, 70% of tourist attractions, accommodation establishments and other tourism services in the province do not use disposable plastic products and hard-to-decompose plastic bags. Every year, campaigns to collect waste and clean the sea are carried out twice.

It can be said that Quang Ngai is paying more attention and strongly implementing environmental protection measures than ever before. In the near future, when plastic waste is replaced by more environmentally friendly materials, the tourism industry in the area will certainly also grow green with impressive numbers.
