Marine environmental pollution from plastic waste has always been a concern for the Quang Ngai Department of Natural Resources and Environment. Every day, hundreds of tons of plastic waste float on the sea due to the lack of awareness of some residents and tourists, and 7-8% of that is plastic waste.

In the upcoming period of 2021-2025, Quang Ngai aims to reduce the amount of waste by 50%, while also collecting 50% of lost or discarded fishing gear.
People in Quang Ngai collect plastic waste.
In addition, 70% of tourist attractions, accommodation establishments, and other tourism services in the province do not use single-use plastic products and non-biodegradable plastic bags, and waste collection and beach cleanup campaigns are conducted twice a year.
The sea around Ly Son Island is crystal clear when there is no trash.
It can be said that Quang Ngai is paying more attention to and strongly implementing environmental protection measures than ever before. In the not-too-distant future, when plastic waste is replaced with more environmentally friendly materials, the tourism industry in the area will certainly experience impressive green growth.
