From January 30, 2025, Vietnamese citizens can enter Belarus without a visa, according to the Visa Exemption Agreement between Vietnam and Belarus. The agreement was signed on December 8, 2023 by Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang and Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Evgeny Shestakov, and applies to holders of ordinary passports of both countries.
Citizens of Vietnam and Belarus are exempt from visas and are allowed to stay for a maximum of 30 days per entry, with the total stay not exceeding 90 days in a year. This agreement not only represents a new step forward in the friendly relations between the two countries but also opens up opportunities for extensive cooperation in the fields of economy, tourism and culture.
The visa exemption agreement for ordinary passport holders between Vietnam and Belarus was signed during the visit of Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko.
The official visa exemption between Vietnam and Belarus is an important step, clearly demonstrating the determination of the two governments to promote comprehensive cooperation. This is a testament to the tireless efforts to facilitate international tourists to Vietnam, while opening up many new cooperation opportunities with Belarus, contributing to the common development of the two countries.
Belarus, officially the Republic of Belarus, is a landlocked country in Eastern Europe, bordering Russia to the northeast.
By January 30, 2025, Vietnamese citizens had been exempted from visas in 51 countries and territories, including 24 destinations that do not require a visa, 23 destinations that require a VOA and 4 destinations that require an ETA. This bilateral visa exemption marks a new milestone. Currently, Vietnam has 52 destinations in the world that citizens can enter without a visa, through a visa on arrival (VOA) or an electronic travel authorization (ETA).
Previously, Vietnam had unilaterally exempted visas for Belarusian citizens since 2015, regardless of passport type. This new visa exemption agreement continues to affirm the two countries' commitment to promoting a comprehensive partnership, while facilitating cultural exchanges and bilateral trade cooperation.
