From January 30, 2025, Vietnamese citizens can enter Belarus without a visa, according to the visa exemption agreement between Vietnam and Belarus. The agreement, signed on December 8, 2023, by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Evgeny Shestakov, applies to holders of ordinary passports from both countries.
Vietnamese and Belarusian citizens are exempt from visa requirements, with a maximum stay of 30 days per entry, and a total stay not exceeding 90 days per year. This agreement not only represents a new step forward in the friendly relations between the two countries but also opens up opportunities for extensive cooperation in the economic, tourism, and cultural fields.
The visa exemption agreement for holders of ordinary passports between Vietnam and Belarus was signed during the visit of Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko.
The official visa exemption between Vietnam and Belarus is a significant step, clearly demonstrating the determination of the two governments to promote comprehensive cooperation. This is a testament to the continuous efforts to facilitate international tourists visiting Vietnam, while also opening up many new opportunities for cooperation with Belarus, contributing to the overall development of both countries.
Belarus, officially the Republic of Belarus, is a landlocked country located in Eastern Europe, bordered by Russia to the northeast.
Prior to January 30, 2025, Vietnamese citizens were granted visa-free entry to 51 countries and territories, including 24 visa-free destinations, 23 requiring a VOA (Visa on Arrival), and 4 requiring an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization). This bilateral visa exemption marks a new milestone. Currently, Vietnam has 52 destinations worldwide where citizens can enter without a visa, either through a Visa on Arrival (VOA) or an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA).
Previously, Vietnam had unilaterally waived visa requirements for Belarusian citizens since 2015, regardless of passport type. This new visa waiver agreement further affirms the commitment of both countries to promoting a comprehensive partnership, while facilitating cultural exchanges and bilateral trade cooperation.
