Soap For Hope - Love Spreads Through Every Bar of Soap
The Soap for Hope project aims to recycle used hotel soap bars into new soap for the local community. The fresh recycled soap bars are produced using a simple but unique process that is safe for users. The new soaps are then distributed locally or delivered to disadvantaged children or community organizations.
The "Soap for Hope" project has a lot of meaning for the community.
With a lot of positive feedback, the program has continuously spread and expanded around the world. To date, more than 27 countries in Southeast Asia and Africa have implemented it. It is estimated that each year more than 400,000 people in the local community benefit from this program.
With the support of Diversey, Radisson Blu Resort Phu Quoc once again restarted the project with a small event to share and guide customers, partners and the community on how to recycle soap using the cold pressing method without electricity. The event was successful with the participation of Mr. Nguyen Van Tay (Diversey Regional Director - Phu Quoc & Southwest Vietnam), Mr. Nguyen The Anh (Principal of Duong Dong 1 Secondary School), Mr. Nguyen Minh Tri (Vice Principal of Duong Dong 1 Secondary School), Mr. Tran Quoc Chau, Director of Finance and Head of Community Responsibility Coordination, Radisson Hotel Group Vietnam and Thailand. And finally, Mr. Nick Bauer, General Manager of the resort and all the staff - the people who create the moments of Radisson Blu Resort Phu Quoc.
“Although soap recycling is not a new project, this initiative has allowed us to contribute to the community and raise awareness about hygiene and safety issues that the resort is also interested in. In addition, all revenue from the sale of 100 soap bars at the event was sponsored for the Back to School Scholarship program at Duong Dong 1 Secondary School”, Mr. Nick Bauer, General Manager of Radisson Blu Resort Phu Quoc shared.
All proceeds from the sale of 100 soaps at the event were donated to the Back to School Scholarship Program at Duong Dong 1 Secondary School.
Since its opening, the commitment to Responsible Business has always been the guiding principle in the business management activities at Radisson Blu Resort Phu Quoc. Many responsible business initiatives to support the local community have been implemented such as the implementation of the Bamboo Farm model, a green project realized in the resort's lush tropical garden landscape or the program of using Bamboo Straws instead of plastic items to join hands in reducing carbon emissions and plastic consumption, etc. In addition, the Fish Sauce Counter Check-in point introduces high-quality local specialties to visitors to support the local community.
Creating Livelihoods for Local Communities - Linen For Life
In parallel with Soap for Hope, the Linen for Life project, supported by Diversey, will be launched this year to empower the poor or disadvantaged families. With this program, disadvantaged households in the community will be able to earn a small living by recycling unused textiles from Radisson Blu Resort Phu Quoc into new, useful items that can be sold, thereby helping them earn an additional income.
