In a press statement, Rome Mayor Virginia Raggi said the city has recently increased its urban police force by 500. These will be the people responsible for monitoring the new tourism regulations for tourists and those doing business in tourism activities in the city.

Ms. Virginia Raggi emphasized that this work is expected to improve the quality of tourism in the city, as well as the awareness of both residents and visitors when coming to Rome.

Some regulations and activities that tourists must pay special attention to when coming to Rome include: fines of up to 400 EUR for tourists who act indecently towards statues or symbols of Roman warriors, or people impersonating Roman warriors, or historical and cultural relics of Rome; drinking alcohol on the street is completely prohibited, except in bars and nightclubs; eating and drinking on the street is also considered a violation...

Responding to the new regulations of the city government, the food service business owners of Rome are quite concerned about the decrease in the number of customers, as well as sales. However, the Rome city government is still determined to implement the new regulations because in recent years, Rome has been facing many negative consequences of tourism such as urban waste pollution, poor tourist awareness, littering, and loss of security and order in the city.
