Ethnic fashion comes to Italy

09/09/2014

The unique and latest designs of four designers Minh Hanh, Lan Huong, Cong Khanh, Quang Nhat using traditional materials such as silk, brocade... will be introduced to the Italian public at 6:00 p.m. on September 17, in the space of Museo Di Roma-Palazoo Braschi.

Italian Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Lorenzo Angeloni, said that within the framework of the event, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy will also announce the sustainable development cooperation between Italy and Vietnam in the fashion field through the Italy-Vietnam Fashion Council.

In this trip, the four designers continued to bring typical Vietnamese materials with bold experimental combinations. For example, designer Minh Hanh combined two seemingly contrasting materials, jeans and brocade, in her collection.
Minh Hanh skillfully handles geometric patterns. Still using ideas very close to life, she has created a different feeling for the ao dai, full of poetry and strength with lots of new energy.

As for Lan Huong, who is known as the muse of the Vietnamese ao dai, she is loyal to Vietnamese silk and traditional hand embroidery. Her ao dai designs are like works of art expressed through meticulous embroidery techniques. The apricot, orchid, chrysanthemum, bamboo and lotus flowers appearing on Lan Huong's ao dai all exude a genuine and lively beauty. It is not only the skill of the embroiderer but also the spirit and outlook on life of the designer who puts all his heart into each work, each embroidery stitch and each charm of the ao dai.

Having also conquered fashionistas with ideas from his homeland, designer Cong Khanh introduced the fragile beauty of white storks flying over vast fields and the few red-headed cranes left in Tram Chim, the South. There will be many unexpected changes in the lines of his collection.

Highly appreciated for his knowledge and understanding of fashion as well as his good grasp of world fashion trends, Quang Nhat's collection uses raw jute linen from Ha Giang region along with embroidery to exude the peaceful beauty of the Vietnamese countryside. The young man with the ambition to restore the precious materials of this nation also boldly uses domestic gemstones to embellish the costumes with a modern and profound look.

The organizers said that Miss Vietnam 2010 Ngoc Han, Miss Sea 2010 Nguyen Thi Loan, Miss Vietnam Photogenic runner-up Phuong Lien and Roma models will be the models of this program.

The activity is part of a series of events of the Vietnam Cultural Week in Rome, jointly organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy, the Rome city government, the Museo Di Roma Museum, the Gattinoni Fashion Group and the Italian Embassy in Vietnam.
