On the afternoon of July 21st, Mr. Do Van Tan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Sa Pa town, stated that the request to dismantle the statue was due to the fact that the tourist site did not have an operating license and the construction violated building regulations. If the investor does not dismantle it, the authorities will plan for forced demolition.
"We dismantled it not because of opinions about the statue's aesthetics," Mr. Tan said, adding that to assess and manage similar art models in the area in the future, the town government has requested the Lao Cai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to conduct a joint inspection.

The bust depicts Elsa, the "Ice Queen" from Disney's Frozen animated film. Made of pre-molded composite plastic, the statue is 3 meters high and 3 meters wide, installed on the roof of a house. In recent days, the statue has sparked much controversy regarding its aesthetics and suitability for the mountainous landscape of Sa Pa.
Three months ago, the AnSapa check-in facility constructed a "Statue of Liberty," sparking controversy regarding its aesthetic value on this land. Subsequently, the Sa Pa town authorities ordered the investor to stop receiving visitors and dismantle the statue.

The Ansapa check-in tourist area, spanning over 1.7 hectares, opened in late 2020. Besides large statues, the area also features many replicas of the Eiffel Tower (France), the Leaning Tower of Pisa (Italy), Mount Rushmore (USA), and more.
