On the afternoon of July 21, Mr. Do Van Tan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Sa Pa town, said that the request to dismantle the statue was because this tourist spot did not have an operating license and the construction violated construction order. In case the investor did not dismantle it, the government would come up with a plan to enforce it.
"We are not dismantling the statue because of opinions about its aesthetic value," said Mr. Tan, adding that in order to evaluate and manage similar art models in the area in the coming time, the town government has asked the Lao Cai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to conduct an inspection.

The bust depicts the character "Ice Queen" Elsa from Disney's animated film Frozen. The statue is made of pre-cast composite plastic, 3 m high, 3 m wide, installed on the roof of a house. In recent days, the statue has caused much controversy about its aesthetics and suitability with the mountainous landscape of Sa Pa.
Three months ago, the AnSapa check-in facility built a "Statue of Liberty" statue, causing controversy over its aesthetic appeal. After that, the Sa Pa town government asked the investor to stop receiving visitors and remove the statue.

The Ansapa check-in tourist area is over 1.7 hectares wide and has been in operation since the end of 2020. In addition to large statues, this area also has many structures simulating the Eiffel Tower (France), the Leaning Tower of Pisa (Italy), Mount Rushmore (USA)...
